## What it does

scenario-sprite-animation selects a route for frame-by-frame animation, GIFs, isometric sheets, and VFX loops such as fire or smoke. It can cover walk, idle, and attack cycles, extract frames from generated video, or turn those frames into a sheet.

For sheets with an exact grid, the skill carries the row, column, and frame-count requirements into the workflow. It uses `model_run`, `model_schema_get`, `model_scenario-video-to-image-seq`, `model_scenario-grid-maker`, and `model_scenario-image-slicer` for named steps.

The slicer accepts grids up to `6x6`, so check the layout before generation. A rerun without `seed` creates a different character, which means approving one sheet before slicing is a sensible step.

## Requirements
- Works with: Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-sprite-animation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/scenario-sprite-animation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/scenario-sprite-animation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-sprite-animation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/scenario-sprite-animation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-sprite-animation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/scenario-sprite-animation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install scenario-labs/skills scenario-sprite-animation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/scenario-sprite-animation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-sprite-animation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/scenario-labs/skills --path skills/scenario-sprite-animation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/scenario-sprite-animation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-sprite-animation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/scenario-labs/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/scenario-sprite-animation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a walk-cycle sprite sheet
- lay out frames on an exact grid
- extract animation frames from generated video
- slice a sheet for Unity
- align character tiles to one baseline

## Example prompts
- Create a `4x4` sprite sheet for a character walk cycle.
- Animate this sprite as an attack cycle in 8 directions.
- Extract frames from this video and slice them for Godot.

# Scenario Sprite Animation

## Overview

A bare prompt to a generic image model for "a sprite sheet, walk cycle, 8 frames" returns a picture
of one; a written grid spec on a high-adherence image model returns the sheet (the single-sheet row
below). Frame sequences come from routes picked by the control the task needs, not sprite size
alone. This skill routes between lanes and carries the frame math; depth lives with siblings:
`scenario-video` (video model families), `scenario-consistency` and `scenario-model-training` (one
character across an action set), `scenario-game-assets` (statics, pixel cleanup, upscaling; a sheet
whose cells are one character's frames stays here), `scenario-refine-loop` (iterate to brief).
Connection and the core loop: the `scenario` skill. If a sibling skill named here is missing from
your available skills, ask the user to install it
(`npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill <name>`); unattended, proceed from tool schemas and
flag the gap.
