## What it does

This skill guides music generation using MiniMax models on Scenario via MCP. It routes work across two tools: Music 3.0 creates original songs from prompts, while Music Cover rebuilds uploaded audio in a new genre without losing the melody line. Four workflows are supported: vocal tracks with custom lyrics, auto-written lyrics using `lyricsOptimizer: true`, instrumentals via `isInstrumental: true`, and style swaps.

Lyric sheets act as arrangement blueprints. Section tags like `[Verse]` and `[Chorus]` sit on separate lines in square brackets, while vocal cues like `(whispered)` belong in parentheses. Style rules stay strictly in the `prompt` parameter (10 to 2,000 characters), while the sung text belongs in `lyrics` (up to 3,500 characters). Pricing scales with text length at around 700 characters per billable minute.

Covers work differently. You cannot pass a raw local file path or an external URL to `audioUrl`; upload the file first with `upload_asset` and pass the returned asset ID. Music jobs take minutes to render, which means launching runs with `wait=false` and polling with `jobs_wait` is mandatory to avoid timeouts. The companion `scenario` skill handles asset uploads.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-minimax-music -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/scenario-minimax-music/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/scenario-minimax-music/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-minimax-music -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/scenario-minimax-music/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-minimax-music -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/scenario-minimax-music/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install scenario-labs/skills scenario-minimax-music
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/scenario-minimax-music/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-minimax-music -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/scenario-labs/skills --path skills/scenario-minimax-music
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/scenario-minimax-music/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill scenario-minimax-music -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/scenario-labs/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/scenario-minimax-music/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Generate full vocal songs from a structured lyric sheet and style prompt
- Create instrumental tracks without vocals using `isInstrumental: true`
- Restyle an uploaded MP3 or WAV in a new genre while keeping the melody
- Generate structured lyric sheets automatically from a short text brief

## Example prompts
- Generate an epic orchestral track at 140 BPM in D minor with female vocals using scenario-minimax-music
- Restyle this uploaded WAV file into a synth-pop track while keeping the original melody
- Write a lyric brief for an indie folk song and create the track with lyricsOptimizer enabled

# Scenario MiniMax Music

## Overview

MiniMax's music family on Scenario splits in two: Music 3.0 composes and performs a complete song
from a style prompt plus a lyric sheet, and Music Cover rebuilds an uploaded song in a new style
while keeping its melody. Discover both with `search` and treat `model_schema_get` as the contract:
the members share `prompt`, `sampleRate`, and `bitrate` and agree on nothing else.

Connection and the core loop: see the `scenario` skill; model-agnostic audio work: the
`scenario-audio` skill. If a sibling skill named here is missing from your available skills, ask the
user to install it (`npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill <name>`); unattended, proceed from
tool schemas and flag the gap.

## Quick reference

Four modes across two members (names from the live schema):

| Mode         | Member    | Inputs                                                 | Behavior                                     |
| ------------ | --------- | ------------------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------- |
| Vocal song   | Music 3.0 | `prompt` + `lyrics`                                    | sings your words; tags shape the arrangement |
| Auto lyrics  | Music 3.0 | `prompt` + brief in `lyrics` + `lyricsOptimizer: true` | writes the structured sheet for you          |
| Instrumental | Music 3.0 | `prompt` + `isInstrumental: true`                      | no lyrics; the prompt is the whole brief     |
| Cover        | Cover     | `audioUrl` + `prompt`                                  | keeps the melody, restyles everything else   |

`prompt` is required on both members (10 to 2,000 characters at authoring time) and carries style
