## What it does

Give the skill a headline like a central bank rate move or a new tariff, and it works out the medium-term picture. First it parses the headline into entities and numbers, then classifies the event: monetary policy, geopolitics, regulation, technology, commodities, or corporate and M&A. From there it loads references on event patterns, sector sensitivity, and scenario templates.

Analysis runs in two passes. The `scenario-analyst` subagent does the primary work: it pulls recent news through WebSearch, builds Base/Bull/Bear scenarios with probabilities summing to 100%, sorts sector impacts into first, second and third order, and picks US-listed stocks. Then `strategy-reviewer` goes over the result, flagging missed sectors, questioning the probability split, and calling out optimism or pessimism bias.

No API keys or MCP servers are involved; WebSearch and WebFetch cover the research. The catch is that both subagents have to be reachable through the Task tool, otherwise the skill has nothing to call. The finished English report lands in `reports/scenario_analysis_<topic>_YYYYMMDD.md`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tradermonty/claude-trading-skills --skill scenario-analyzer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/scenario-analyzer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/scenario-analyzer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tradermonty/claude-trading-skills --skill scenario-analyzer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/scenario-analyzer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tradermonty/claude-trading-skills --skill scenario-analyzer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/scenario-analyzer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install tradermonty/claude-trading-skills scenario-analyzer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/scenario-analyzer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tradermonty/claude-trading-skills --skill scenario-analyzer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/tradermonty/claude-trading-skills --path skills/scenario-analyzer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/scenario-analyzer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tradermonty/claude-trading-skills --skill scenario-analyzer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/tradermonty/claude-trading-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/scenario-analyzer/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- break a news headline into three scenarios with probabilities
- map an event's sector impact across first, second and third order
- get a stock list split by positive and negative exposure
- catch optimism or pessimism bias in your own analysis
- save a scenario report to a Markdown file

## Example prompts
- /scenario-analyzer "Fed raises rates by 50bp, signals more hikes ahead"
- /scenario-analyzer "China announces new tariffs on US semiconductors"
- /scenario-analyzer "OPEC+ agrees to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day"

# Scenario Analyzer

## Overview

This skill analyzes medium-to-long-term (18-month) investment scenarios
starting from a news headline. It invokes two specialized agents in sequence
(`scenario-analyst` and `strategy-reviewer`) and integrates multi-angle
analysis with a critical review into a comprehensive report.

## When to Use This Skill

Use this skill when:

- You want to analyze the medium-to-long-term investment impact of a news headline
- You want to construct multiple 18-month scenarios
- You want sector/stock impacts organized into 1st/2nd/3rd-order effects
- You need a comprehensive analysis that includes a second opinion

**Examples:**
```
/scenario-analyzer "Fed raises interest rates by 50bp, signals more hikes ahead"
/scenario-analyzer "China announces new tariffs on US semiconductors"
/scenario-analyzer "OPEC+ agrees to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day"
```

## Prerequisites

- **API Keys**: None (uses only WebSearch/WebFetch)
- **MCP Servers**: None
- **Dependencies**: The scenario-analyst and strategy-reviewer agents must be available via the Task tool
