## What it does

This skill covers the SAP Master Data Integration service on SAP BTP: creating a tenant, connecting clients, configuring distribution models and troubleshooting replication. It ships decision trees for picking a service plan, choosing an authentication method and deciding when the SOAP API applies instead of REST.

You need a global enterprise SAP BTP account — trial and free tier will not work. A subaccount in a supported region and a Cloud Foundry space are required too, plus a user with the BusinessConfigurationAdmin role. One tenant per subaccount, and separate tenants for dev, test and prod are advised. Check the account type first; that is where most setups stall.

Client configuration is documented down to attributes like `businessSystemId` and `writePermissions`, along with OAuth2 and mTLS authentication, SOAP endpoints for business partners and the system limits: change request size, delta token validity, change token length. The skill also spells out what MDI does not do — consolidation, data quality control and central governance workflows belong to SAP Master Data Governance.
