# sap-btp-best-practices

A skill with SAP BTP practices: account model, authentication, CI/CD, failover. Useful when you plan a BTP landscape before writing anything.

## What it does

The skill hands your agent a reference on SAP BTP: the global account hierarchy, directories and subaccounts, picking a runtime (Cloud Foundry, Kyma, ABAP Environment), commercial models, Identity Authentication setup, authorization methods, and reaching on-premise systems through Cloud Connector. Separate sections cover governance and Platform Engineering, development, delivery, failover and monitoring.

Everything sits in one structured document with a table of contents and pointers to sibling skills in the same repository: `sap-btp-cloud-platform` for CLI and runtime details, `sap-btp-connectivity` for destinations, plus `sap-btp-service-manager`, `sap-cap-capire` and `sap-fiori-tools`. The quick start tells you to settle the account model first, choose the runtime second, and only then dig into implementation.

The content is audited against official SAP documentation, and the `last_verified` date stays stale until the source refresh and live account checks are done. Worth checking before you commit a layout to a project. Part of the repository text is truncated, so for anything past the table of contents, cross-check with the SAP Help Portal.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/sap-skills --skill sap-btp-best-practices -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/sap-btp-best-practices/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/sap-btp-best-practices/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/sap-skills --skill sap-btp-best-practices -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/sap-btp-best-practices/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/sap-skills --skill sap-btp-best-practices -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/sap-btp-best-practices/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/sap-skills sap-btp-best-practices
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/sap-btp-best-practices/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/sap-skills --skill sap-btp-best-practices -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/sap-skills --path plugins/sap-btp-best-practices/skills/sap-btp-best-practices
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/sap-btp-best-practices/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/sap-skills --skill sap-btp-best-practices -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/secondsky/sap-skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/sap-btp-best-practices/skills/sap-btp-best-practices/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- design a global account, directory and subaccount hierarchy
- choose between Cloud Foundry, Kyma and ABAP Environment
- set up Identity Authentication with MFA for admins
- pick an authorization method for a large user base
- plan multi-region failover before implementation starts

## Example prompts
- Design a SAP BTP account model for three teams: dev, test and prod in separate directories
- Which authorization method should we use in production with a thousand users?
- Review our Neo migration plan against current BTP environments
