## What it does

The skill calculates recurring revenue breakdowns and builds an MRR waterfall. It isolates net new MRR across additions, expansions, downgrades, and churn. Logo churn and revenue churn are tracked separately alongside Net Revenue Retention (NRR). Unit economics modules compute LTV, customer acquisition cost, and CAC payback periods.

Templates include preconfigured SaaS benchmarks and cohort retention tables. To pull raw numbers automatically, the skill configures the `analytics-mcp` server using `stripe_metrics`, `chargebee_data`, `mixpanel_cohorts`, or `spreadsheet_analysis`. Without those data connectors, you must provide the numbers manually in the chat prompt.

The author recommends `claude-sonnet-4` or `claude-opus-4`, while `gpt-4` and `gpt-4o` remain compatible.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill saas-metrics -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/saas-metrics/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/saas-metrics/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill saas-metrics -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/saas-metrics/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill saas-metrics -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/saas-metrics/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills saas-metrics
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/saas-metrics/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill saas-metrics -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path saas-metrics
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/saas-metrics/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill saas-metrics -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/saas-metrics/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build an MRR waterfall and track month-over-month growth rates
- monitor gross revenue churn, logo churn, and net revenue retention
- calculate customer acquisition cost and LTV to CAC payback ratios
- generate monthly signup cohort retention matrices

## Example prompts
- Calculate last month's MRR waterfall using our Stripe metrics
- Compute LTV and CAC payback with an 80% gross margin
- Generate a cohort retention matrix for signups from the past two quarters
