## What it does

The skill teaches an agent to write directorial briefs for Runway instead of a vague "make me a video" prompt. It carries the SHOT framework: set the shot, hold consistency with References, operate the controls (Camera Control, Motion Brush, Aleph for editing footage, Act-Two for performance capture), then trim and assemble. Model choice is part of it — Gen-4.5 for hero runs, Gen-4 Turbo for cheap tests.

Know the limits before you start. Runway returns clips of 2–10s with no native audio, so narration comes from ai-voiceover, captions from captions-and-clipping, and a human does the assembly. The skill plans shots for the edit rather than pretending one prompt yields a finished piece. WoopSocial handles scheduling and publishing.

Act-Two is gated: consented performers, your own performance, or licensed-owned characters only. Transposing a real person's face without consent is refused. Want a clean clip with native audio in a single pass? That is veo-3, not Runway.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill runway -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/runway/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/runway/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill runway -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/runway/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill runway -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/runway/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills runway
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/runway/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill runway -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/runway
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/runway/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill runway -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/runway/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- direct a specific camera move in a shot
- keep the same character across multiple shots
- restyle or edit footage you already have
- build a branded product or ad shot
- produce film-style previz

## Example prompts
- Write a shot brief with a camera orbit around the hero, Gen-4.5
- I need the same character in three shots — lock it with References
- Restyle this footage through Aleph instead of regenerating it

  Prompt and direct Runway (Gen-4.5, Aleph) — the control-grade generative video tool for camera moves, character consistency, and edit-grade shots. Use when someone wants "a specific camera
  move," "the same character across multiple shots," "to edit/restyle existing footage," "a branded
  product/ad shot," "film-style previz," "image to video with Runway" (animate a still), or names
  Runway / Gen-4 / Gen-4.5 / Aleph / Act-Two / Motion Brush / References.
  Runway generates clips; a human assembles/edits; audio comes from ai-voiceover; WoopSocial
  schedules/publishes. Below the ai-video router, sibling to veo-3 (all-round + native audio),
  kling (native 4K/multi-shot/motion), and luma (cinematic HDR/mood). Consented performances only
  (Act-Two); AI disclosure mandatory.

# runway

The **control / director's** generative-video producer — the edit-grade counterpart to **veo-3**
(all-round + native audio), **kling** (native 4K/multi-shot/motion), and **luma** (cinematic
HDR/mood) under the **ai-video** router. It briefs controlled, consistent shots; Runway renders;
a human assembles them (adding audio via ai-voiceover); WoopSocial schedules/publishes.

## The POV: pick Runway for control, not one-shot quality
Reach for Runway when you need **control** — a specific camera move, a **consistent character across
shots** (Gen-4 References), or to **edit/restyle existing footage** (Aleph) rather than generate from
a blank prompt. If you just want a clean cinematic clip **with native audio** in one pass, that's
**veo-3**; native 4K/multi-shot/motion-transfer is **kling**; HDR mood pieces are **luma**. Runway
wins on control, consistency, edit-grade video-to-video, and pipeline fit — ads, product, client
deliverables, previz (4K here is an upscale, not native).

## Read these first
1. **brand-profile** — look, audience, non-negotiables.
2. **voice-builder** — so the shot and any narration fit the brand.

## The framework: SHOT
(Depth: `references/the-shot-framework.md`.)
- **S — Set the shot:** directorial brief (subject, camera move, motion, lighting/mood, aspect ratio).
- **H — Hold consistency with References:** Gen-4 References to lock a character/object/style across shots.
- **O — Operate the controls:** Camera Control, Motion Brush, **Aleph** (edit existing footage),
  **Act-Two** (consented performance). Model: Gen-4.5 (hero) / Gen-4 Turbo (test).
- **T — Trim & assemble:** clips are short (2–10s per generation), **no native audio** → stitch in
  the edit, add voice via **ai-voiceover**, captions via **captions-and-clipping**.

## Capabilities + costs (verify-quarterly)
Gen-4.5 (flagship text/image-to-video), Gen-4 Turbo (fast/cheap iteration), Aleph 2.0
(video-to-video editing), Act-Two (performance capture), References (consistency), Motion Brush,
