## What it does

The skill documents what the official Runpod images actually contain for common workloads: ComfyUI, PyTorch, Ubuntu, and the network storage file browser. Every template reference answers the same questions in the same order — name and id, CUDA variants, exposed ports, what already runs on boot, where the app and its data live, how long first boot takes, and the exact signal that the app is serving. `Running` is not that signal.

A second part covers ComfyUI workflow repair. Three scripts under `scripts/` pull a workflow out of a PNG, inventory the models it references, and write metadata back. They run through `python3 -B`, so Python 3 has to be present.

One naming trap is worth knowing before you search. Two products share the word Hub. A pod template is a saved config with an image, ports and disk, found with `runpodctl template list --type official`. A Hub repo is a packaged serverless worker, and `runpodctl hub search` returns none of the pod templates. Search ComfyUI that way and the official pod templates stay invisible. The skill does not deploy anything: that is `runpod-mcp` or `runpodctl`, and building your own images belongs to `runpod-build-template`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Docker

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill runpod-templates -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/runpod-templates/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/runpod-templates/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill runpod-templates -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/runpod-templates/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill runpod-templates -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/runpod-templates/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install runpod/runpod-plugins-official runpod-templates
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/runpod-templates/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill runpod-templates -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/runpod/runpod-plugins-official --path plugins/runpod/skills/runpod-templates
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/runpod-templates/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill runpod-templates -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/runpod/runpod-plugins-official/tree/HEAD/plugins/runpod/skills/runpod-templates/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- find an official Runpod Pod template for a given workload
- tell a pod template apart from a serverless worker in the Hub catalog
- pick the right CUDA variant from the allowed versions list
- check which ports are exposed and what starts on boot
- repair model metadata in a ComfyUI workflow

## Example prompts
- list the official Runpod templates for ComfyUI and their ports
- which PyTorch template variant matches my CUDA version
- extract the workflow from this PNG and fix the model metadata

# Official Runpod templates

For explicit source packaging or template optimization, use
[runpod-build-template](../runpod-build-template/SKILL.md). For ordinary workload
deployment, **prefer an official template over building an image.** Runpod maintains prebuilt
images for common workloads; deploying one is a create + poll, with no SSH install
step. This skill is the reference for *what those images actually are*. It does not
manage infrastructure — deploy with **runpod-mcp** (if connected) or **runpodctl**.

## Terms — "template" vs the Hub

Two different products share the word "Hub", and conflating them derails discovery:

| Term | What it is | Runs as | Discover with |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Pod template** (this skill) | A saved pod config — image + ports + disk + env. The official ones appear on Console **Hub template pages** (`console.runpod.io/hub/template/<id>`) | a **pod** | `runpodctl template list --type official` / `template search` · REST `GET /v2/catalog/templates` |
| **Hub repo / listing** | A packaged **serverless worker** (e.g. `runpod-workers/worker-comfyui`) with a handler, deployed as an endpoint | **serverless** | `runpodctl hub list` / `hub search` · MCP `list-hub-repos` / `deploy-hub-repo` |

Same word, disjoint catalogs: `hub search comfyui` returns only the serverless worker
and none of the official ComfyUI **pod** templates, and `template search` returns no
Hub repos. In the REST v2 catalog, pod vs serverless templates are told apart by each
entry's `serverless` flag.

## What "official" means, and how to find them
