## What it does

The skill interviews the hiring manager before generating any templates. It asks about GTM team size, stack maturity, budget, and the core operational pain point, sending one question per message. Based on the answers, it first determines whether to open an in-house requisition or use an agency or fractional operator instead. When an in-house hire is justified, it maps the role to one of three archetypes: systems, analyst, or strategist.

The packet uses the scorecard approach from Geoff Smart and Randy Street's book Who: The A Method for Hiring. It drafts a mission statement, 3 to 8 measurable outcomes, and a requirements matrix limited to 5 to 7 weighted must-haves. Next, it produces 4 to 6 core competencies, an interview question bank with red and green scoring anchors, a practical work-sample exercise, and an archetype-specific 30-60-90 day ramp plan.

If a hard deadline requires a fix within the current quarter, opening a senior requisition makes no sense because recruiting alone will outlast the deadline. The skill does not source candidates, post job ads, or draft offer letters. For candidate interview preparation, use the sibling skill `mbfinotti/revops-skills@revops-career`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/revops-skills --skill revops-hiring -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/revops-hiring/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/revops-hiring/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/revops-skills --skill revops-hiring -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/revops-hiring/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/revops-skills --skill revops-hiring -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/revops-hiring/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mbfinotti/revops-skills revops-hiring
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/revops-hiring/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/revops-skills --skill revops-hiring -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mbfinotti/revops-skills --path skills/revops-hiring
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/revops-hiring/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/revops-skills --skill revops-hiring -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mbfinotti/revops-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/revops-hiring/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- determine whether an in-house RevOps hire is better than a fractional operator
- define role outcomes and a weighted requirements matrix
- create a behavioral and situational interview question bank with scoring anchors
- design a practical work-sample exercise with an evaluation rubric
- map a 30-60-90 ramp plan tailored to the selected role archetype

## Example prompts
- Help me hire our first RevOps manager for a Series A startup
- Draft an outcome scorecard and interview questions for a Sales Ops lead
- Create a work-sample exercise and a 30-60-90 ramp plan for a CRM systems hire

description: Build the complete hiring packet for a RevOps or Sales Ops role - archetype and level decision, outcome scorecard, interview stage map with a competency question bank and anchored rating scales, a work-sample exercise with rubric and debrief, and a 30-60-90 ramp plan branched on seniority and archetype. For the hiring manager or founder recruiting the hire. Use whenever the user mentions hiring a RevOps manager, sales ops interview questions, a RevOps take-home exercise, a scorecard for a first ops hire, or a 30-60-90 for a new ops hire - even if they never say "hiring packet". # RevOps Hiring

Build the packet a hiring manager needs to recruit a RevOps or Sales Ops person: role definition, interview loop, scorecard, work sample, ramp plan.

The frame is the scorecard tradition of Geoff Smart and Randy Street's _Who: The A Method for Hiring_ - a mission, 3-8 ranked measurable outcomes, then competencies. It applies to the archetypes practitioners actually recognize:

- RevOps Co-op's five career tracks: analyst, systems administrator, enablement, deal desk, project manager.
- Compressed for hiring into three profiles: systems, analyst, strategist.

Two decisions come before any packet exists:

- Whether to open a requisition at all rather than take a fractional operator or a scoped agency project.
- Which archetype - because most failed RevOps hires are an archetype mismatch, not a competence failure.

This is the hirer's side only. It does not source candidates, post jobs, or track applicants, and it reports published compensation bands with source and date as scoping input - it never writes offer letters or gives legal or HR compliance advice; those need HR/legal review.

The candidate side - preparing for and landing a RevOps role - is the mirror-image sibling `mbfinotti/revops-skills@revops-career`. Onboarding a _customer_ after closed-won is `mbfinotti/revops-skills@sales-to-cs-handoff`, a different job entirely.

## Interview

Ask before designing. One question per message; offer multiple-choice answers where possible. Skip anything already answered.
