## What it does

The skill walks a rebuttal through fixed stages: parse the comments, classify them, pick a strategy, write the response, check the tone. Comments land in Major, Minor, Typo or Misunderstanding, and each class gets its own line — accept the point, defend it, clarify, or promise an experiment.

An evidence anchor rule runs through the whole thing. Every response row has to name a paper location, a result table or figure, a citation, a planned experiment with its status, or `unresolved` when nothing exists yet. You cannot write that experiments were added without naming the artifact. Objections with several atomic points get split and answered one by one.

Before drafting, the skill reads `references/response-strategies.md`, `references/rebuttal-templates.md` and `references/tone-guidelines.md`. If `paper-miner-writing-memory.md` from the `ml-paper-writing` skill is present, it pulls that in too — on Claude installs the path is `~/.claude/skills/ml-paper-writing/references/knowledge/paper-miner-writing-memory.md`, and Codex or OpenCode branches keep it elsewhere. No memory file, no problem: the local references carry the work.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill review-response -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/review-response/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/review-response/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill review-response -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/review-response/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill review-response -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/review-response/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar review-response
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/review-response/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill review-response -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --path skills/review-response
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/review-response/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill review-response -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar/tree/HEAD/skills/review-response/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- sort reviewer comments by type and priority
- choose a response line for each objection
- draft a rebuttal that cites tables and figures
- polish the tone so the reply stays respectful
- split a compound objection and answer every point

## Example prompts
- Here are the reviewer comments, analyze them and suggest a response strategy
- Draft the rebuttal and name the artifact from the paper for each point
- Check the tone of this draft and cut anything that reads as dismissive

# Review Response

A systematic review response workflow that helps researchers efficiently and professionally reply to reviewer comments.

## Core Features

1. **Review Analysis** - Parse and classify reviewer comments (Major/Minor/Typo/Misunderstanding)
2. **Response Strategy** - Develop response strategies for different comment types (Accept/Defend/Clarify/Experiment)
3. **Rebuttal Writing** - Write structured, professional rebuttal documents
4. **Tone Management** - Optimize tone to maintain professionalism, respect, and evidence-based arguments

## Workflow

```
Receive reviewer comments -> Parse and classify -> Develop strategy -> Write responses -> Tone check -> Final rebuttal
```

## When to Use

Use this skill when you need to:
- "Help me write a rebuttal"
- "How to respond to reviewer comments"
- "Analyze these review comments"
- "Develop a review response strategy"

## Usage Steps

1. **Provide reviewer comments** - Share the reviewer comments text or file with Claude
2. **Analysis and classification** - Claude automatically parses and classifies the comments
3. **Strategy recommendations** - Receive response strategy suggestions for each comment
4. **Write rebuttal** - Generate a structured rebuttal document based on the strategy
5. **Optimize tone** - Review and optimize the professionalism and politeness of responses

## Core Principles

- **Professionalism** - Maintain an academically professional tone and expression
- **Respectfulness** - Respect the reviewers' opinions and time
- **Evidence-based** - Support every response with sufficient reasoning and evidence
- **Completeness** - Ensure all reviewer comments receive a response

## Success Factors (Based on ICLR Spotlight Paper Analysis)

Key lessons extracted from successful rebuttal cases:

### 1. Acknowledge Strengths, Respond Positively to Criticism
- Reviewers will first acknowledge the paper's strengths (novelty, impact, practical applicability)
- Even spotlight papers receive constructive criticism
- **Strategy**: Thank reviewers for acknowledged strengths first, then address criticism specifically

### 2. Provide Clarity and Intuitive Understanding
