# review-request

Sets up an independent review: gathers requirements, pins the diff boundary, and writes the reviewer brief. Useful once the implementation is done and someone else has to check it.

## What it does

The skill walks an implementation from its current state to structured findings. First it picks a review target: a commit range, explicit commits, a task-scoped diff, or the working tree against `HEAD`. Then it pulls in only the context a reviewer needs — objective, acceptance criteria, constraints, known non-goals. The reviewer gets a brief and returns verdicts plus findings.

Before dispatch, the skill captures the repository root, branch or worktree, `HEAD`, and full status. For a working-tree review it lists staged, unstaged, and untracked files separately, since plain `git diff` leaves untracked implementation files out. If the intended boundary is ambiguous and changing it would alter the review, the skill stops and resolves it through the active workflow instead of reviewing the whole repository.

Review depth follows risk. A localized edit can skip independent review when the workflow allows it. Changes touching auth, permissions, data, migrations, public APIs, concurrency, or infrastructure call for the strongest reviewer available and specialist inspection. The skill does not fix findings or decide their fate — `review-resolution` owns that. The reviewer is read-only here: no edits to the implementation, no nested reviewers.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill review-request -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/review-request/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/review-request/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill review-request -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/review-request/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill review-request -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/review-request/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install sentimony/skills review-request
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/review-request/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill review-request -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/sentimony/skills --path plugins/devflow/skills/review-request
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/review-request/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add sentimony/skills --skill review-request -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/sentimony/skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/devflow/skills/review-request/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a reviewer brief from requirements and diff boundaries
- separate justified supporting changes from unrelated scope creep
- capture working-tree state including untracked files
- match review depth to the risk of the change
- hand existing tests to the reviewer as evidence, not proof

## Example prompts
- run an independent review of the current working tree against HEAD
- build the brief and send the commits from BASE_SHA to HEAD_SHA for review
- assess the risk of the migration changes and bring in a security specialist

# Review Request

Use this skill when an active workflow calls for an independent review of implementation
work. It prepares a review target, gathers the smallest useful requirements context, and
requests a structured review. It does not fix findings, decide their disposition, run the
full verification gate, or finish a branch.

## Responsibility boundary

This skill owns the path from implementation state to review findings:

```text
implementation state
  -> review scope
  -> requirements and context
  -> exact target boundary
  -> reviewer brief
  -> independent review
  -> structured findings
```

`review-resolution` owns the next path:

```text
findings
  -> verify against the code and requirements
  -> accept, reject, defer, or escalate
  -> fix accepted findings
  -> decide whether a re-review is needed
```

Use review proportionally. A trivial Route A edit may skip independent review when the
active workflow permits that choice. A multi-file, risky, or requirement-heavy change
usually needs this skill before `verification-gate`.

## Review contract

Answer these questions before dispatch:

| Question | Required answer |
| --- | --- |
| Why | The intended outcome and relevant acceptance criteria |
| What | The implementation changes under review |
| Scope | The exact commits, working-tree state, or file set |
| Constraints | User, project, architecture, security, and non-goal constraints |
| Risk | Areas that deserve deeper or specialist inspection |
| Evidence | Existing tests and checks, clearly labelled as evidence rather than proof |
| Output | Explicit verdicts, findings, suggestions, and review gaps |

Do not send `Review this code` as the complete request when the task has a defined scope.
Read [review-boundaries.md](references/review-boundaries.md) for the target construction
and [reviewer-brief.md](references/reviewer-brief.md) for the reusable brief.

Scope review distinguishes missing required behavior, justified supporting changes, and
unrelated scope creep. A supporting file or configuration change can be in scope when the
