# results-report

Turns a finished experiment into a structured report: what was tested, what holds up, what to do next. Runs after the results-analysis skill.

## What it does

The skill takes a ready analysis bundle and writes it up as a decision document. Ten sections: executive summary, experiment identity and decision context, setup and evaluation protocol, main findings, statistical validation, figure-by-figure interpretation, failure cases and limitations, what changed your belief, next actions, and a reproducibility index.

There is a hard gate. Without `analysis-report.md`, `stats-appendix.md`, `figure-catalog.md`, provenance and the primary comparison question, no full report gets written. You get a blocker summary instead, and the skill routes you back to `results-analysis`. That ordering matters, because confident prose built on loose CSV files is hard to walk back later.

Files follow the pattern `YYYY-MM-DD--{experiment-line}--r{round}--{purpose}.md` and open with YAML holding the date, experiment line, round and links to source artifacts. In a repo bound to an Obsidian knowledge base the report lands in `Results/Reports/`, links back to the matching `Experiments/` note and leaves a trace in `Daily/`. Otherwise it is a plain markdown file next to the analysis bundle.

## Requirements
- Works with: Obsidian

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill results-report -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/results-report/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/results-report/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill results-report -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/results-report/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill results-report -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/results-report/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar results-report
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/results-report/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill results-report -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --path skills/results-report
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/results-report/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar --skill results-report -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Galaxy-Dawn/claude-scholar/tree/HEAD/skills/results-report/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write up a finished experiment as one report
- keep results traceable to an experiment line and round
- document negative results and failure cases
- separate stable conclusions from tentative interpretation
- end with concrete next actions instead of a summary

## Example prompts
- write an experiment report for the freezing line, round 3
- summarize the experimental results and suggest next actions
- turn the analysis bundle in analysis-output into a results report

name: results-report
description: This skill should be used when the user asks to "write an experiment report", "summarize experimental results", "do experiment retrospection", "write a results report", "写实验总结报告", "写实验复盘", or mentions turning completed experiment artifacts into a structured, decision-oriented research report. It assumes strict analysis should come from `results-analysis` first.

# Results Report

Write the **complete post-experiment summary report** after analysis artifacts are ready.

This skill is for the stage **after** `results-analysis`.

## Role boundary

### `results-analysis` does
- strict statistics,
- real figures,
- figure interpretation scaffolding,
- stats appendix.

### `results-report` does
- complete experiment wrap-up report,
- decision-oriented narrative,
- figure-by-figure interpretation inside a coherent structure,
- limitations, failure cases, and next actions,
- Obsidian write-back into `Results/Reports/`.

When the task is to create or redesign paper-ready figures/tables themselves, rely on `publication-chart-skill` instead of expanding `results-report` into figure/table production.

Do not replace strict analysis with confident prose. If the analysis bundle is missing, first identify the blocker and request or produce the missing bundle.

Hard gate: do not write a complete report when `analysis-report.md`, `stats-appendix.md`, `figure-catalog.md`, provenance, or the primary comparison question is missing. In that case, write only a blocker summary and route back to `results-analysis`.

## Default output

The default report is an **internal research report**, not manuscript prose.

It should be named as:

```text
YYYY-MM-DD--{experiment-line}--r{round}--{purpose}.md
```

Example:
- `2026-03-18--freezing--r03--transfer-summary.md`
- `2026-03-18--contrastive-adversarial--r02--ablation-report.md`

The note title should be:

```text
{Experiment Line} / Round {N} / {Purpose} / {YYYY-MM-DD}
```

Read `references/report-naming.md` before finalizing the filename or note title.

## Required frontmatter

```yaml
---
type: results-report
date: 2026-03-18
experiment_line: freezing
round: 3
purpose: transfer-summary
status: active
source_artifacts:
  - analysis-output/analysis-report.md
  - analysis-output/stats-appendix.md
linked_experiments:
  - Experiments/Freezing-Study.md
linked_results:
  - Results/Freezing-vs-Adapter.md
---
```
