# result-to-claim

The skill reads your experiment results and decides which claims they back, which they don't, and what evidence is missing. Run it before writing the paper.

## What it does

The skill pulls experiment data from whatever the project has: W&B runs, `EXPERIMENT_LOG.md`, `EXPERIMENT_TRACKER.md`, or raw training logs. It lines those numbers up against the intended claims in `idea-stage/docs/research_contract.md` and gets a verdict through Codex MCP. The verdict routes you one of three ways: pivot, supplement, or confirm.

Before any model call, a mechanical pre-check runs. You write the claims and their cited numbers to `.aris/claims.json`, then `tools/evidence_check.py` verifies each value actually exists in the named result file. A number that isn't there is flagged as hallucinated evidence right away, so no Codex call gets spent defending it. The helper follows a warn-and-skip policy: if it can't be resolved, the pre-check is skipped and the review still runs.

Because the skill issues a verdict, don't wrap it in `/loop`, `/schedule`, or `CronCreate`. Re-running it on a timer adds nothing — the verdict moves when the results move, not when the clock ticks. Schedule the wait that comes before it instead, then run this gate once.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill result-to-claim -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/result-to-claim/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/result-to-claim/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill result-to-claim -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/result-to-claim/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill result-to-claim -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/result-to-claim/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep result-to-claim
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/result-to-claim/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill result-to-claim -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/result-to-claim
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/result-to-claim/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill result-to-claim -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/result-to-claim/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- work out which claims the numbers actually support
- catch cited values that aren't in the result files
- decide between running more experiments and writing up
- check results against the claims in the research contract
- get a second opinion when results are ambiguous

## Example prompts
- run result-to-claim on the latest W&B run
- check whether the results support the claimed gain over baseline
- pull results from EXPERIMENT_LOG.md and tell me what's missing for the claim

# Result-to-Claim Gate

> **Before each reviewer slot**, follow [Selectable Reviewers](../shared-references/reviewer-backends.md):
> resolve invocation → `.aris/reviewer.json` → Claude Code default (Codex MCP)
> with `reviewer_route.py` through the canonical helper resolver, preserving this
> slot's tier, fresh contexts, source/image inputs and deterministic gates.
> Codex examples/pins below apply only to `backend=codex`; other routes use their
> own first-call/reply contract. Save the route and actual returned identity;
> unavailable selections are `REVIEW_UNAVAILABLE`. Classify acceptance from actual
> families/completion/scope. Forward invocation reviewer/model/effort overrides
> to reviewer-bearing children. Generation workers are unchanged.

> 🔒 **Do not wrap this skill in `/loop`, `/schedule`, or `CronCreate`.** It is
> verdict-bearing — it judges whether results support a claim. Re-running that
> verdict on a wall-clock timer adds no new signal (the verdict changes only
> when the *results* change, not when the clock ticks). What you actually want
> to schedule is the *external wait that precedes it* — experiments done → then
> run this gate **once**. See
> [`shared-references/external-cadence.md`](../shared-references/external-cadence.md).

Experiments produce numbers; this gate decides what those numbers *mean*. Collect results from available sources, get a Codex judgment, then auto-route based on the verdict.

## Context: $ARGUMENTS

## When to Use

- After a set of experiments completes (main results, not just sanity checks)
- Before committing to claims in a paper or review response
