# research-add-items

Adds new research objects to an existing outline and saves them back to outline.yaml. Useful when the topic list needs to grow instead of starting over.

## What it does

The skill locates `*/outline.yaml` in the current working directory and reads it on its own. Then it asks which items to add and whether any specific names matter. In parallel it checks if you want an agent to search the web for more items.

New entries get appended to `outline.yaml`, duplicates are filtered out, and the updated outline is shown for confirmation. The file is modified in place — your `{topic}/outline.yaml` gets overwritten, so keep it under git if the plan is already settled.

You trigger it with `/research-add-items`. It works against an outline that already exists: with no `outline.yaml` in the folder there is nothing to extend.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Weizhena/Deep-Research-skills --skill research-add-items -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/research-add-items/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/research-add-items/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Weizhena/Deep-Research-skills --skill research-add-items -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/research-add-items/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Weizhena/Deep-Research-skills --skill research-add-items -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/research-add-items/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Weizhena/Deep-Research-skills research-add-items
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/research-add-items/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Weizhena/Deep-Research-skills --skill research-add-items -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Weizhena/Deep-Research-skills --path skills/research-codex-en/research-add-items
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/research-add-items/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Weizhena/Deep-Research-skills --skill research-add-items -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- append new objects to a finished research outline
- locate and read `outline.yaml` in the working directory
- pull extra items in through a web search agent
- drop duplicates while merging lists
- save the updated outline in place and show it for confirmation

## Example prompts
- /research-add-items
- Add a few more objects to the outline: the competitors from this list
- Run a web search for extra items and append what you find to `outline.yaml`

# Research Add Items - Supplement Research Objects

## Trigger
`/research-add-items`

## Workflow

### Step 1: Auto-locate Outline
Find `*/outline.yaml` file in current working directory, auto-read.

### Step 2: Get Supplement Sources in Parallel
Simultaneously:
- **A. Ask user**: What items to supplement? Any specific names?
- **B. Ask if Web Search needed**: Launch agent to search for more items?

### Step 3: Merge and Update
- Append new items to outline.yaml
- Display to user for confirmation
- Avoid duplicates
- Save updated outline

## Output
Updated `{topic}/outline.yaml` file (in-place modification)
```
