## What it does

Two Python scripts sit inside the skill. `scripts/generate.py` creates an image from a text prompt or edits an existing one, and `scripts/batch_generate.py` produces a series with sequential filenames. The model is `gemini-3-pro-image-preview`, also known as Nano Banana Pro.

You need a `GEMINI_API_KEY` from Google AI Studio and Python 3.10+ with the `google-genai` package. Dependencies go in with one line: `pip install google-genai pillow`. If the key is not in your environment, pass it with the `--api-key` option.

Aspect ratio comes from `--ratio`: `1:1`, `16:9`, `9:16`, `21:9` and others. Size is `--size 2K` or `--size 4K`, standard by default. The `--search` flag turns on Google Search grounding, which helps with real people, places and current events. The Gemini API has quotas, so keep a delay between requests in batch runs.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ReScienceLab/opc-skills --skill nanobanana -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/nanobanana/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/nanobanana/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ReScienceLab/opc-skills --skill nanobanana -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/nanobanana/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ReScienceLab/opc-skills --skill nanobanana -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/nanobanana/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install ReScienceLab/opc-skills nanobanana
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/nanobanana/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ReScienceLab/opc-skills --skill nanobanana -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/ReScienceLab/opc-skills --path skills/nanobanana
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/nanobanana/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ReScienceLab/opc-skills --skill nanobanana -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- generate an image from a text prompt inside the agent
- change the background or remove an object in an existing image
- get a frame in a specific aspect ratio, including cinematic 21:9
- produce a set of logo or mascot variations with sequential filenames
- render a 4K image when the frame contains text

## Example prompts
- Generate a robot mascot in pixel art style and save it to `robot.png`
- Make the background of `input.jpg` blue and write the result to `output.png`
- Generate 20 pixel art logo variations into `./logos` with the prefix `logo`

# Nano Banana - AI Image Generation

Generate and edit images using Google's Gemini 3 Pro Image model (`gemini-3-pro-image-preview`, nicknamed "Nano Banana Pro" 🍌).

## Prerequisites

**Required:**
- `GEMINI_API_KEY` - Get from [Google AI Studio](https://aistudio.google.com/apikey)
- Python 3.10+ with `google-genai` package

**Install dependencies:**
```bash
pip install google-genai pillow
```

## Quick Start

### Generate an image:
```bash
python3 <skill_dir>/scripts/generate.py "a cute robot mascot, pixel art style" -o robot.png
```

### Edit an existing image:
```bash
python3 <skill_dir>/scripts/generate.py "make the background blue" -i input.jpg -o output.png
```

### Generate with specific aspect ratio:
```bash
python3 <skill_dir>/scripts/generate.py "cinematic landscape" --ratio 21:9 -o landscape.png
```

### Generate high-resolution 4K image:
```bash
python3 <skill_dir>/scripts/generate.py "professional product photo" --size 4K -o product.png
```

## Script Reference

### `scripts/generate.py`

Main image generation script.

```
Usage: generate.py [OPTIONS] PROMPT
Arguments:
  PROMPT              Text prompt for image generation
Options:
  -o, --output PATH   Output file path (default: auto-generated)
  -i, --input PATH    Input image for editing (optional)
  -r, --ratio RATIO   Aspect ratio (1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 21:9, etc.)
  -s, --size SIZE     Image size: 2K or 4K (default: standard)
  --search            Enable Google Search grounding for accuracy
  -v, --verbose       Show detailed output
```python
from generate import generate_image, edit_image

# Generate image
result = generate_image(
