## What it does

The skill puts a check in front of repomix. It walks the directory looking for hardcoded credentials, reports each hit with file and line, and only then lets the pack run. Find a secret and the pack stops.

Two scripts do the work. `safe_pack.py` runs the whole scan-report-pack cycle, `scan_secrets.py` scans only — handy for a pre-commit hook or a check after cleanup. There is a `--force` flag that skips the scan, and the author marks it as not recommended. Reach for it out of habit and the skill stops doing anything.

The scanner catches AWS keys (`AKIA...`), Stripe (`sk_live_...`), OpenAI (`sk-...`), Google Gemini (`AIza...`), JWT tokens (`eyJ...`), private keys, Supabase and Cloudflare R2 values. Placeholders like `your-api-key` and environment variable references are skipped, as are test and example files. You need Python 3 and repomix installed.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill repomix-safe-mixer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/repomix-safe-mixer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/repomix-safe-mixer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill repomix-safe-mixer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/repomix-safe-mixer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill repomix-safe-mixer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/repomix-safe-mixer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install daymade/claude-code-skills repomix-safe-mixer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/repomix-safe-mixer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill repomix-safe-mixer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/daymade/claude-code-skills --path repomix-safe-mixer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/repomix-safe-mixer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill repomix-safe-mixer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/daymade/claude-code-skills/tree/HEAD/repomix-safe-mixer/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pack a project into one file without shipping keys along with it
- check code before a commit for tokens left behind
- locate every place a password or key is hardcoded
- confirm nothing is left after moving credentials to env vars
- build a reference package for outside use without leaking anything

## Example prompts
- pack ./my-project with repomix, but scan it for secrets first
- scan ./my-project for hardcoded keys and show me where they are
- verify I removed every secret, then build the package into package.xml

# Repomix Safe Mixer

## Overview

Safely package codebases with repomix by automatically detecting and removing hardcoded credentials.

This skill prevents accidental credential exposure when packaging code with repomix. It scans for hardcoded secrets (API keys, database credentials, tokens), reports findings, and ensures safe packaging.

**When to use**: When packaging code with repomix for distribution, creating shareable reference packages, or whenever security concerns exist about hardcoded credentials in code.

## Core Workflow

### Standard Safe Packaging

Use `safe_pack.py` from this skill's `scripts/` directory for the complete workflow: scan → report → pack.

```bash
python3 scripts/safe_pack.py <directory>
```

**What it does**:
1. Scans directory for hardcoded credentials
2. Reports findings with file/line details
3. Blocks packaging if secrets found
4. Packs with repomix only if scan is clean

**Example**:
```bash
python3 scripts/safe_pack.py ./my-project
```

**Output if clean**:
```
🔍 Scanning ./my-project for hardcoded secrets...
✅ No secrets detected!
📦 Packing ./my-project with repomix...
✅ Packaging complete!
   Package is safe to distribute.
```

**Output if secrets found**:
```
🔍 Scanning ./my-project for hardcoded secrets...
⚠️  Security Scan Found 3 Potential Secrets:
🔴 supabase_url: 1 instance(s)
   - src/client.ts:5
     Match: https://your-project-ref.supabase.co
❌ Cannot pack: Secrets detected!
```

### Options

**Custom output file**:
```bash
python3 scripts/safe_pack.py \
  ./my-project \
  --output package.xml
```

**With repomix config**:
```bash
python3 scripts/safe_pack.py \
  ./my-project \
  --config repomix.config.json
```

**Exclude patterns from scanning**:
```bash
python3 scripts/safe_pack.py \
  ./my-project \
  --exclude '.*test.*' '.*\.example'
```

**Force pack (dangerous, skip scan)**:
```bash
python3 scripts/safe_pack.py \
  ./my-project \
  --force  # ⚠️ NOT RECOMMENDED
```

## Standalone Secret Scanning

Use `scan_secrets.py` from this skill's `scripts/` directory for scanning only (without packing).

```bash
python3 scripts/scan_secrets.py <directory>
```

**Use cases**:
- Verify cleanup after removing credentials
- Pre-commit security checks
- Audit existing codebases

**Example**:
```bash
python3 scripts/scan_secrets.py ./my-project
```

**JSON output for programmatic use**:
```bash
python3 scripts/scan_secrets.py \
  ./my-project \
  --json
```
