# render-html

Turns ARIS Markdown and JSON artifacts into a single HTML file meant for human eyes. Useful when a report has to be read, not parsed.

## What it does

The skill takes an artifact such as `IDEA_REPORT.md`, `AUTO_REVIEW.md`, `KILL_ARGUMENT.md` or `PAPER_PLAN.md` and builds a one-page HTML view from it. The `academic` template gives you a readable layout with a table of contents and Q&A cards, while `dashboard` renders a cockpit over research-wiki entities. Markdown stays canonical: edit the source, render again, and leave the HTML alone.

Under the hood there is one script, `render_html.py`, on the Python standard library only — `re`, `html`, `hashlib`, `json`, `datetime`, `pathlib`, `argparse`, `sys`. Nothing to install. Math and code highlighting load from `cdn.jsdelivr.net`; the `--offline` flag drops both, so formulas stay as raw `$x$` and code blocks lose highlighting, but the page opens without a network. The source path, its SHA256 and the generation timestamp sit in `<meta>` tags and in the visible header, so a divergence between HTML and Markdown is traceable to a specific source version.

A sanitizer strips `script`, `iframe`, `form` and similar tags, and rewrites `on*` handlers plus `javascript:` schemes to a placeholder. For ARIS artifacts that is a safety net, yet a stray fragment pasted into a report will not execute in the browser. Academic-template HTML goes through review in a fresh context; the dashboard template skips it by default, which is worth remembering before sharing a cockpit outside your machine.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill render-html -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/render-html/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/render-html/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill render-html -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/render-html/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill render-html -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/render-html/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep render-html
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/render-html/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill render-html -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/render-html
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/render-html/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill render-html -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/render-html/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a readable HTML report from IDEA_REPORT.md
- show score progression across review rounds
- lay out attack and defense points as Q&A cards
- collect papers, ideas and experiments into one cockpit
- render a claims-evidence matrix as a table

## Example prompts
- render HTML from `idea-stage/IDEA_REPORT.md`
- make this readable from `review-stage/AUTO_REVIEW.md` with `--state REVIEW_STATE.json`
- build a dashboard from `research-wiki/SUMMARY.md`

# /render-html: Markdown → single-file HTML for human reading

> **Before each reviewer slot**, follow [Selectable Reviewers](../shared-references/reviewer-backends.md):
> resolve invocation → `.aris/reviewer.json` → Claude Code default (Codex MCP)
> with `reviewer_route.py` through the canonical helper resolver, preserving this
> slot's tier, fresh contexts, source/image inputs and deterministic gates.
> Codex examples/pins below apply only to `backend=codex`; other routes use their
> own first-call/reply contract. Save the route and actual returned identity;
> unavailable selections are `REVIEW_UNAVAILABLE`. Classify acceptance from actual
> families/completion/scope. Forward invocation reviewer/model/effort overrides
> to reviewer-bearing children. Generation workers are unchanged.

> **Markdown is for writers. HTML is for readers.** ARIS workflow nodes write Markdown (canonical, audit-trail-friendly, machine-parseable). `/render-html` turns *selected* artifacts into a polished single-file HTML view for the human who actually has to read them. The Markdown stays the source of truth.

## When to use this skill

**Use `/render-html` for** ARIS artifacts that have a real human reader:

| Artifact | Why HTML helps | Template |
|----------|----------------|----------|
