# reimagine-it-generate

Reads an HTML page and rebuilds it in a new visual direction — landing, infographic, dashboard, or one of 17 others. Facts from the source stay; only the composition changes.

## What it does

The engine parses headings, dates, numbers, links, and hex colors in the source HTML, derives a palette and motif from the content, then writes a new page. `--auto` mode picks the direction that fits the content best and prints the rationale. You can name a direction explicitly — `infographic`, `landing`, `dashboard`, or any of the 17 tokens — or generate multiple options with the `variations` command. The engine checks fidelity: the output must preserve ≥ 80% of source facts.

If the project has a brand, the `lock` command saves the palette and fonts to a `.lock.json` file, then `--ref` applies them to the new page. Run `audit` to verify the output before publishing. The engine invents no facts, statistics, or quotes — it only rearranges what was already in the HTML.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Kayforkind/reimagine-it --skill generate -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/generate/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/generate/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Kayforkind/reimagine-it --skill generate -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/generate/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Kayforkind/reimagine-it --skill generate -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/generate/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Kayforkind/reimagine-it generate
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/generate/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Kayforkind/reimagine-it --skill generate -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Kayforkind/reimagine-it --path skills/reimagine-it/generate
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/generate/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Kayforkind/reimagine-it --skill generate -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Kayforkind/reimagine-it/tree/HEAD/skills/reimagine-it/generate/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn a draft HTML page into a landing page
- build an infographic from a list of facts
- rebuild a page in a new format without losing data
- keep a brand style when redesigning
- generate multiple design options from one source

## Example prompts
- Take `draft.html` and turn it into a landing page with `--auto`
- Rebuild `report.html` as an infographic: `npx reimagine-it -i report.html -t infographic -o poster.html`
- Generate three design variants from `page.html` into `review/`

# /reimagine-it generate

**Parent:** [../SKILL.md](../SKILL.md) — the full Content-Derived Design engine. This sub-skill handles only generation of a redesigned page.

The source file is the brief. The engine reads headings, facts, names, dates,
numbers, links, emails, and hex colors already in the HTML, derives a palette
and motif from them, and writes a stronger standalone page. Source facts are
not invented; only the composition changes.

## Usage

```bash
# Let Auto choose, generate, verify, and explain (recommended first call)
npx reimagine-it --auto -i page.html -o redesign.html
# Pick a direction
npx reimagine-it -i page.html -t infographic -o poster.html
# Pin a creative variation
npx reimagine-it -i page.html -t landing --seed 42 -o landing.html
# Review three verified directions plus a contrast sheet
npx reimagine-it variations -i page.html -n 3 -o review/
# Keep an existing brand: lock, then reuse
npx reimagine-it lock -i house-style.html -o house.lock.json
npx reimagine-it -i page.html --ref house.lock.json -t landing -o on-brand.html
```

## The 17 tokens

webpage · infographic · svg · 3js · simulation · artistic · cinematic ·
dashboard · photography · landing · editorial · gradient · showcase · motion ·
glass · lookbook (photoshoots/collections) · particles (living networks)

`npx reimagine-it --list` describes each. **Auto** scores every lane against
the content and forbids the same silhouette twice.

## Procedure

1. Run Auto first (`--auto`). Read the printed rationale — it names why the
   direction fits the content.
2. Check the fidelity line: the engine reports the percentage of detected
   source facts preserved. It must be ≥ 80%.
