# recover-eco-funds

A skill that walks you through recovering USDC stuck in legacy Circle CLI deposits made with the eco method. Read-only checks first, no guessing at intent data.

## What it does

The skill covers two separate situations. One is a legacy Eco intent whose refund recipient is fixed to the SCA's backing EOA. The other is USDC sent straight to an Agent Wallet's backing EOA, where the CLI answers "Wallet not found" for that address. In that second case the first two phases are skipped and work starts at the sweep to the linked SCA.

The flow is evidence-first. It decodes the `IntentPublished` event and compares `reward.creator` against the SCA and its API-verified `eoaOwnerAddress`. A match with the backing EOA means the executable phases may apply. A match with the SCA means this is current Gateway v2, and the legacy sweep must not run. Then comes `Portal.refund(destination, routeHash, reward)` on the refund chain, followed by moving USDC from the backing EOA to the SCA with ERC-3009. The SCA relays the call and pays gas, so the backing EOA needs no native balance.

Node.js is required. Separate scripts handle the self-refund and the EOA authorization signature. Before every money-moving step the skill asks for explicit approval listing chain, token, amount and addresses, and it simulates the exact calldata before broadcasting. If `CIRCLE_PROXY_URL` is set, the Phase 2 helper needs `--allow-proxy-origin <scheme://host>`, and the Phase 3 script refuses to run at all while an override is present. Worth checking your environment before you start.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill recover-eco-funds -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/recover-eco-funds/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/recover-eco-funds/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill recover-eco-funds -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/recover-eco-funds/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill recover-eco-funds -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/recover-eco-funds/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install circlefin/skills recover-eco-funds
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/recover-eco-funds/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill recover-eco-funds -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/circlefin/skills --path plugins/circle/skills/recover-eco-funds
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/recover-eco-funds/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill recover-eco-funds -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- recover USDC from a stuck legacy Eco intent
- tell a legacy deposit apart from a current Gateway v2 one via `reward.creator`
- build `Portal.refund(...)` calldata from the `IntentPublished` event
- move USDC from a backing EOA to the linked SCA with no gas on the EOA
- sweep funds sent directly to an Agent Wallet's backing EOA

## Example prompts
- Check my legacy Circle CLI deposit made with `--method eco` and tell me whether recovery applies
- Decode the intent data from `IntentPublished` and prepare the Portal self-refund
- USDC landed on my Agent Wallet's backing EOA and the CLI says "Wallet not found" — sweep it to the SCA

Use this skill for legacy Eco intents that are stuck, expired, waiting for refund, refunded to `eoaOwnerAddress`, missing from Gateway, or need a permissionless self-refund. Do not use its executable recovery phases for current Gateway v2 deposits, which set `refundRecipient` to the SCA. It covers calling Eco's Portal `refund(...)` with exact onchain intent data, then moving refunded USDC from the backing EOA to the linked SCA with ERC-3009, relayed by the SCA so the backing EOA needs no gas. The backing-EOA sweep also applies when USDC was sent directly to an Agent Wallet's backing EOA and the CLI reports \"Wallet not found\" for that address."
