## What it does

The skill splits catalog work into four phases: understand, plan, execute, verify. It keeps the two surfaces straight. Play Console owns the billable SKU — products, base plans, offers, prices. The RevenueCat dashboard decides which SKU reaches which user and under which entitlement key. Your app or backend never calls the Google Play Developer `monetization.subscriptions` or `monetization.onetimeproducts` endpoints directly.

The order matters. Create the product in Play Console first (Monetize → Products → Subscriptions, add a base plan, optionally an intro offer), then import it into RevenueCat and attach it to an entitlement such as `pro`. After that, add it to an offering as a package with an identifier like `$rc_monthly` or `$rc_annual`. Placements and targeting rules — OS version, country, custom attribute — are a separate step. Offering edits and targeting changes land on the next app launch, so no binary release is needed.

If `awaitOfferings()` returns `null` for a package you expect, the skill names three usual suspects: the offering is not marked Current, the product is not attached to the package, or Play has not finished propagating the product. Creating an offering before importing the product is another common slip. For bulk edits from a backend there is the RevenueCat REST API for products, entitlements and offerings — Google still stays out of the loop.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add RevenueCat/ai-toolkit --skill rc-catalog-management -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/rc-catalog-management/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/rc-catalog-management/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add RevenueCat/ai-toolkit --skill rc-catalog-management -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/rc-catalog-management/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add RevenueCat/ai-toolkit --skill rc-catalog-management -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/rc-catalog-management/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install RevenueCat/ai-toolkit rc-catalog-management
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/rc-catalog-management/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add RevenueCat/ai-toolkit --skill rc-catalog-management -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/RevenueCat/ai-toolkit --path revenuecat-play-billing/skills/rc-catalog-management
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/rc-catalog-management/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add RevenueCat/ai-toolkit --skill rc-catalog-management -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/RevenueCat/ai-toolkit/tree/HEAD/revenuecat-play-billing/skills/rc-catalog-management/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create a new subscription product in Play Console and carry it through to an offering
- attach a product to an entitlement so the client sees an active subscription
- wire `$rc_monthly` and `$rc_annual` packages into an offering without shipping a release
- set up targeting by country or OS version through placements
- debug why `awaitOfferings()` returns `null` for a package

## Example prompts
- Add a new premium_annual subscription: create the product in Play Console, import it into RevenueCat and attach it to the pro entitlement
- Build the default offering with $rc_monthly and $rc_annual packages and mark it Current
- Why does awaitOfferings() return null for the monthly package? Check the offering, the package attachment and the Play Console status

# Catalog Management

Manage the Android product catalog across two surfaces: the Google Play Console (source of truth for products) and the RevenueCat dashboard (entitlements, offerings, targeting). You do not call the Google Play Developer `monetization.subscriptions` or `monetization.onetimeproducts` endpoints from your app or backend.

## Phase 1: Understand

Read this phase before you touch anything.

### Why two surfaces

| Surface | Owns | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play Console | Underlying products, base plans, offers, prices | `premium_monthly`, base plan `p1m`, intro offer |
| RevenueCat dashboard | Entitlements, Offerings, Packages, Targeting | `pro` entitlement, `default` offering, `$rc_monthly` package |

Play Console holds the billable SKU. RevenueCat decides which SKU gets surfaced to which user and under which entitlement key.

### What changes without an app update

When your app calls `awaitOfferings()`, it fetches whatever the RevenueCat dashboard has configured. Offering edits, package swaps, and targeting rules propagate on the next app launch. No binary release is required.

### When to use the REST API
