# qianwen-ops-auth

This skill configures QianWen API keys and endpoints, then helps troubleshoot 401 authentication errors. Use it when credentials are missing or a setup is new.

## What it does

qianwen-ops-auth configures QianWen API authentication through `DASHSCOPE_API_KEY` and the `QIANWEN_API_KEY` alias. It also reads `.env` from the current directory or repository root, and supports `QWEN_BASE_URL` for custom deployments. The skill distinguishes standard `sk-ws-` keys from `sk-sp-` Token Plan keys without printing the secret.

The package includes reference material for Token Plan models, custom OSS storage, and console sources. Authentication checks require `curl`. Custom file uploads through OSS need `QWEN_TMP_OSS_BUCKET`, a region, and `oss:PutObject` plus `oss:GetObject` permissions; check those RAM permissions before relying on that path.

It also explains how to create an `.env` placeholder, choose an endpoint, and report credential status without exposing the key. The supplied material ends during the `.env` setup section, so this description does not extend the workflow beyond those documented steps.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-ops-auth -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/qianwen-ops-auth/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/qianwen-ops-auth/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-ops-auth -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/qianwen-ops-auth/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-ops-auth -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/qianwen-ops-auth/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai qianwen-ops-auth
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/qianwen-ops-auth/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-ops-auth -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --path skills/ops/qianwen-ops-auth
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/qianwen-ops-auth/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-ops-auth -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai/tree/HEAD/skills/ops/qianwen-ops-auth/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- configure a QianWen API key through the environment
- investigate a 401 authentication failure
- tell standard keys from Token Plan keys
- set a custom QianWen endpoint
- prepare OSS storage for file uploads

## Example prompts
- Configure QianWen authentication and check `DASHSCOPE_API_KEY` and `QIANWEN_API_KEY` without printing their values.
- Investigate this QianWen 401 error and report only the credential status.
- Use `qianwen-ops-auth` to set `QWEN_BASE_URL` and the OSS upload variables.

# QianWen Authentication Setup

Configure and verify authentication for QianWen APIs.
This skill is part of **QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai**.

## Skill directory

Use this skill's internal files for learning. Load references only when the user needs console or documentation links.

| Location | Purpose |
|----------|---------|
| `references/tokenplan.md` | Token Plan vs standard key; points to the CDN catalog for supported models and retains Credits, policy, and error guidance |
| `references/custom-oss.md` | Custom OSS bucket setup for production file uploads (replaces 48h temp storage) |
| `references/sources.md` | Console URLs, auth guide (manual lookup only) |

## Security

**NEVER output any API key, OSS credential in plaintext.**
This applies equally to `DASHSCOPE_API_KEY` and custom OSS AccessKey pairs. Any check or detection of credentials in this skill must be **non-plaintext**: report only status (e.g. "set" / "not set", "valid" / "invalid", HTTP status code), never the key value.

## API Key Handling (MANDATORY)

When the API key is not configured or a script reports missing credentials:

1. **NEVER ask the user to provide their API key directly.** Do not prompt "please paste your API key" or similar. Do not request the key value in any form.
2. **Help create a `.env` file** with a placeholder, then instruct the user to fill in their own key:
   - Run: `echo 'DASHSCOPE_API_KEY=sk-your-key-here' >> .env`
   - Tell the user: "Please replace `sk-your-key-here` with your actual API key from the [QianWen Console](https://platform.qianwenai.com/home/api-keys)."
3. **Or** explain how to configure the environment variable: `export DASHSCOPE_API_KEY='sk-...'` + provide the console URL.
4. **Only** write the actual key value into `.env` if the user **explicitly insists** on having the agent do it for them.

## Credential Priority Chain

Credentials are loaded in the following order (first match wins):

1. **Environment variable** — `DASHSCOPE_API_KEY` (or `QIANWEN_API_KEY` alias)
2. **`.env` file** — in current working directory, then repo root (detected via `.git` or `skills/` directory). Existing environment variables are not overwritten.
