## What it does

The skill gives an agent access to speech synthesis with Claude TTS models from the `qwen3-tts-*` and `qwen-audio-3.0-tts-*` families. The main path is `scripts/tts.py`, which sends a request to the HTTP API and writes an audio file. CosyVoice has its own `scripts/tts_cosyvoice.py`, but it needs the `dashscope` SDK and runs over WebSocket or HTTP NRT.

You need Python 3.9+ and `curl`. No packages to install: `tts.py` uses only the standard library. If Python is missing or older, the skill points you to the curl fallback in `references/execution-guide.md`. The `DASHSCOPE_API_KEY` lives in `.env`, and the skill forbids printing it in plaintext — only a status like "set" or "not set" gets reported.

Key type decides which models you can use. A Token Plan key (`sk-sp-...`) limits you to the Token Plan catalog, and guessing model names is off the table. A PAYG key (`sk-ws-...` or the older `sk-...`) opens the full catalog. The `cosyvoice-v3.5` models need a custom voice ID, so synthesis fails without one, and creating a voice means uploading a 10-20s speech sample.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-audio-tts -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/qianwen-audio-tts/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/qianwen-audio-tts/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-audio-tts -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/qianwen-audio-tts/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-audio-tts -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/qianwen-audio-tts/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai qianwen-audio-tts
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/qianwen-audio-tts/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-audio-tts -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --path skills/audio/qianwen-audio-tts
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/qianwen-audio-tts/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai --skill qianwen-audio-tts -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai/tree/HEAD/skills/audio/qianwen-audio-tts/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- narrate an article and get a finished audio file
- generate a voiceover for a video without recording a mic
- build an app that synthesizes speech with Claude TTS
- check which API key type is configured without exposing the key
- pick a model and voice for the task from the model catalog

## Example prompts
- use Claude-audio-tts and narrate the text in article.md with the longanlingxin voice
- generate a voiceover for this script with Claude-audio-tts
- check my DASHSCOPE_API_KEY type and pick a matching TTS model

# Qwen Audio TTS (Text-to-Speech)

Synthesize natural speech from text using Qwen TTS models.
This skill is part of **QianWen-AI/qianwen-ai**.

## Skill directory

Use this skill's internal files to execute and learn. Load reference files on demand when the default path fails or you need details.

| Location | Purpose |
|----------|---------|
| `scripts/tts.py` | Qwen TTS (HTTP API) — qwen3-tts-*, qwen-audio-3.0-tts-* |
| `scripts/tts_cosyvoice.py` | CosyVoice (WebSocket / HTTP NRT) — requires `dashscope` SDK |
| `references/cosyvoice-guide.md` | CosyVoice setup, voices, examples, errors |
| `references/execution-guide.md` | Fallback: curl (standard, instruct, streaming), code generation |
| `references/prompt-guide.md` | Text formatting for speech, instructions templates, voice selection |
| `references/api-guide.md` | API supplement |
| `references/sources.md` | Official documentation URLs |

## Security

**NEVER output any API key or credential in plaintext.** Always use variable references (`$DASHSCOPE_API_KEY` in shell, `os.environ["DASHSCOPE_API_KEY"]` in Python). Any check or detection of credentials must be **non-plaintext**: report only status (e.g. "set" / "not set", "valid" / "invalid"), never the value. Never display contents of `.env` or config files that may contain secrets.

**When the API key is not configured, NEVER ask the user to provide it directly.** Instead, help create a `.env` file with a placeholder (`DASHSCOPE_API_KEY=sk-your-key-here`) and instruct the user to replace it with their actual key from the [QianWen Console](https://platform.qianwenai.com/home/api-keys). Only write the actual key value if the user explicitly requests it.

## Key Compatibility

Both PAYG (`sk-ws-...`; legacy `sk-...`) and Token Plan (`sk-sp-...`) keys are supported. Detect
the API key type without exposing the Key:

```bash
python3 -c "
import sys; sys.path.insert(0, 'scripts')
````
END THIRD-PARTY FILE f35abe0f2f24b3b7

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the f35abe0f2f24b3b7 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
