## What it does

This skill covers authentication setup for providers built with the Terraform Plugin Framework. It explains schema attributes, environment-variable fallbacks, and a credential chain that checks provider configuration, environment variables, a shared credentials file, then platform identity. The chain accepts the first complete credential set; it does not combine a key from one source with a secret from another.

The material also covers unknown-value checks in `Configure()`, secret redaction, and diagnostics that report why sources were skipped. Authentication attributes should be `Optional`, and secrets should be `Sensitive`. Marking credentials `Required` prevents users from relying on environment variables or a credentials file, so that schema choice changes how the provider can be configured.
