## What it does

The skill walks a launch step by step. It starts by identifying the launch type — new product, major feature or market expansion — plus the GTM mode and the channel mix. Then it builds a checklist: validated product-market fit, a clear ICP, consistent messaging, chosen channels, milestones and owners under RACI.

Channels sit in a table: PR, paid ads, organic, email, Product Hunt and directories. Each row points to the companion skill that does the work — `public-relations`, `paid-ads-strategy`, `seo-strategy`, `content-marketing`, `email-marketing`, `cold-start-strategy`. What you get back is a launch plan with timeline and owners, per-channel actions, and a checklist split into pre-launch, launch day and post-launch.

When a root `contextus.md` exists, the skill reads it and loads only the modules this task needs. Without it, it works from your project material and asks about the gaps. One point is stated plainly: scaling channels before PMF is validated is where launches break, so the checklist puts that first. GTM framing, cold start and Product Hunt day-of live in separate skills — this one does not replace them.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill product-launch -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/product-launch/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/product-launch/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill product-launch -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/product-launch/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill product-launch -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install kostja94/marketing-skills product-launch
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill product-launch -a opencode
```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/kostja94/marketing-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/strategies/launch/product-launch/SKILL.md
## When to use it
- build a launch checklist with RACI owners
- pick a channel mix that fits the launch type
# Strategies: Product Launch
Guides product launch execution—channels, timeline, checklist, and cross-functional coordination. Use this skill when planning the launch of a new product or major feature. For GTM strategy (PLG/SLG/MLG, 90-day framework, ICP, new market entry, repositioning), see **gtm-strategy**. For cold start (first users, no product yet), see **cold-start-strategy**.
**When invoking**: On **first use**, if helpful, open with 1–2 sentences on what this skill covers and why it matters, then provide the main output. On **subsequent use** or when the user asks to skip, go directly to the main output.
## Initial Assessment
**Project context:** Read root `contextus.md` when present and load only the modules relevant to this task. Without Contextus, use available project material or user-provided facts and ask for missing information; do not create a parallel context system.
Identify:
1. **Launch type**: New product, major feature, market expansion
2. **GTM mode**: Sales-led, product-led, marketing-led, hybrid (from **gtm-strategy**)
3. **Channels**: PR, paid, organic, email, events
## Launch Checklist
- [ ] GTM strategy defined (see **gtm-strategy**)
- [ ] PMF validated (see **pmf-strategy**)
- [ ] Target market and ICP clear
- [ ] Messaging consistent across teams
- [ ] Channel mix chosen (PR, paid, organic, email)
- [ ] Timeline and milestones set
- [ ] Cross-functional owners assigned (RACI)
## Channel Mix
| Channel | Use | Skills |
|---------|-----|--------|
| **PR** | Press release, media relations | public-relations |
| **Paid ads** | Scale acquisition post-PMF | paid-ads-strategy |
| **Organic** | SEO, content, community | seo-strategy, content-marketing |
| **Email** | Announcement to existing users | email-marketing |
| **Product Hunt / Directories** | Launch-day buzz; early adopters | cold-start-strategy, directory-submission |
## Critical Success Factors
| Factor | Guideline |
|--------|-----------|
| **PMF first** | Validate product-market fit before scaling; see **pmf-strategy** |
