## What it does

The skill starts Claude Code agents to inspect different parts of a project at the same time. The `full` scope covers UX, APIs, architecture, and documentation; `ux`, `api`, and `arch` focus the review. The main agent then combines the results into a structured report with recommendations.

When Codex CLI is available, the skill can add analysis from that model. Without it, the Claude Code agents still run. The `compare` scope calls `competitors-analysis` to benchmark a named competitor; that call takes a competitor name and URL. Start a review with `/product-analysis full`, `/product-analysis ux`, `/product-analysis api`, `/product-analysis arch`, or `/product-analysis compare X Y`.

For Claude Code, install with `npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill product-analysis -a claude-code`. The skill file is at `~/.claude/skills/product-analysis/SKILL.md`. Codex CLI adds another analysis path, but is not required.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill product-analysis -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/product-analysis/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/product-analysis/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill product-analysis -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/product-analysis/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill product-analysis -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/product-analysis/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install daymade/claude-code-skills product-analysis
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/product-analysis/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill product-analysis -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/daymade/claude-code-skills --path product-analysis
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/product-analysis/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill product-analysis -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/daymade/claude-code-skills/tree/HEAD/product-analysis/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- review navigation and the first-time user journey
- check API coverage and error handling
- trace module dependencies and spot duplicated code
- compare documented features with the implementation
- benchmark the product against a named competitor

## Example prompts
- Run a full project review with `/product-analysis full`.
- Review navigation and onboarding using `/product-analysis ux`.
- Compare this product with a competitor using `/product-analysis compare name URL`.

# Product Analysis

Multi-path parallel product analysis that combines **Claude Code agent teams** and **Codex CLI** for cross-model test-time compute scaling.

**Core principle**: Same analysis task, multiple AI perspectives, deep synthesis.

## How It Works

```
/product-analysis full
         │
         ├─ Step 0: Auto-detect available tools (codex? competitors?)
         │
    ┌────┼──────────────┐
    │    │              │
 Claude Code         Codex CLI (auto-detected)
 Task Agents         (background Bash)
 (Explore ×3-5)      (×2-3 parallel)
    │                   │
    └────────┬──────────┘
             │
      Synthesis (main context)
             │
      Structured Report
```

## Step 0: Auto-Detect Available Tools

Before launching any agents, detect what tools are available:

```bash
# Check if Codex CLI is installed
which codex 2>/dev/null && codex --version
```

**Decision logic**:
- If `codex` is found: Inform the user — "Codex CLI detected (version X). Will run cross-model analysis for richer perspectives."
- If `codex` is not found: Silently proceed with Claude Code agents only. Do NOT ask the user to install anything.

Also detect the project type to tailor agent prompts:
```bash
# Detect project type
ls package.json 2>/dev/null    # Node.js/React
ls pyproject.toml 2>/dev/null  # Python
ls Cargo.toml 2>/dev/null      # Rust
ls go.mod 2>/dev/null          # Go
```

## Scope Modes

Parse `$ARGUMENTS` to determine analysis scope:

| Scope | What it covers | Typical agents |
|-------|---------------|----------------|
| `full` | UX + API + Architecture + Docs (default) | 5 Claude + Codex (if available) |
| `ux` | Frontend navigation, information density, user journey, empty state, onboarding | 3 Claude + Codex (if available) |
| `api` | Backend API coverage, endpoint health, error handling, consistency | 2 Claude + Codex (if available) |
| `arch` | Module structure, dependency graph, code duplication, separation of concerns | 2 Claude + Codex (if available) |
