## What it does

The guide walks through checks to run before a Meeting SDK or Video SDK join flow. Choose what to test, such as browser support, camera, microphone, speakers, network, CPU, or a diagnostic report. Then decide whether a failed check should stop entry, show a warning, or send support telemetry.

It also covers the Probe SDK lifecycle, a diagnostic-page example, a network pattern, and common troubleshooting cases. Run diagnostics before the join flow. Keep their results separate from meeting tokens, and avoid forwarding device details that are not needed. Browser permissions, device detection, HTTPS, firewall behavior, and unsupported environments are separate areas to investigate when a check fails.

## Install

### Codex (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill probe-sdk -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/probe-sdk/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Claude Code

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill probe-sdk -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/probe-sdk/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/probe-sdk/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/probe-sdk/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install openai/plugins probe-sdk
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/probe-sdk/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/openai/plugins --path plugins/zoom/skills/probe-sdk
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/probe-sdk/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/openai/plugins/tree/HEAD/plugins/zoom/skills/probe-sdk/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- check browser readiness before joining a meeting
- catch camera or microphone issues before a video session
- choose whether a failed check prevents entry
- collect diagnostic details for support

## Example prompts
- Plan camera and microphone checks before users join through Meeting SDK.
- Add a network check before Video SDK starts and warn users if it fails.
- Investigate a failed diagnostic involving browser permissions or HTTPS.

# Zoom Probe SDK

Use this skill when the app needs readiness checks before a user joins a meeting or video session.

## Workflow

1. Define the preflight gate: browser support, camera, microphone, speaker, network, CPU, or diagnostic report.
2. Run diagnostics before the Meeting SDK or Video SDK join flow.
3. Decide whether failed checks should block join, warn the user, or capture support telemetry.
4. Keep probe results separate from meeting/session tokens and avoid sending unnecessary device details downstream.
5. Debug by isolating browser permissions, device enumeration, HTTPS requirements, firewall behavior, and unsupported environments.
