## What it does

This skill acts as an interface to the `notion-pp-cli` tool for Notion workspaces. It creates and edits pages, queries databases, updates blocks, lists comments, and handles file uploads. Running `notion-pp-cli sync pages` mirrors the workspace into a local SQLite database, allowing subsequent change tracking and stale document audits to operate offline.

The CLI binary is an absolute prerequisite. If `notion-pp-cli` is not discoverable in the `$PATH` environment variable, commands fail immediately. You can install it using `npx -y @mvanhorn/printing-press-library install notion --cli-only` or compile it directly with Go 1.26.6 or newer. The skill relies on Read and Bash tools.

When a specific command is not immediately obvious, the tool provides `notion-pp-cli which`. It resolves natural language capability queries directly to the correct command index entry.

## Requirements
- Works with: Notion

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-notion -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/pp-notion/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/pp-notion/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-notion -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/pp-notion/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-notion -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/pp-notion/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mvanhorn/printing-press-library pp-notion
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/pp-notion/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-notion -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library --path cli-skills/pp-notion
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/pp-notion/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-notion -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/tree/HEAD/cli-skills/pp-notion/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- audit Notion pages that have had no edits for weeks
- sync Notion databases and pages to a local SQLite cache
- review workspace modifications made over the last few hours
- export Notion pages directly to Markdown

## Example prompts
- Sync all Notion pages to the local SQLite database
- Find Notion pages that have not been modified in the last 30 days
- Check what changed in Notion over the last 8 hours

# Notion — Printing Press CLI

## Prerequisites: Install the CLI

This skill drives the `notion-pp-cli` binary. **You must verify the CLI is installed before invoking any command from this skill.** If it is missing, install it first:

1. Install via the Printing Press installer. It defaults binaries to `$HOME/.local/bin` on macOS/Linux and `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\PrintingPress\bin` on Windows:
   ```bash
   npx -y @mvanhorn/printing-press-library install notion --cli-only
   ```
2. Verify: `notion-pp-cli --version`
3. Ensure the reported install directory is on `$PATH` for the agent/runtime that will invoke this skill.

If the `npx` install fails (no Node, offline, etc.), fall back to a direct Go install (requires Go 1.26.6 or newer):

```bash
go install github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/library/productivity/notion/cmd/notion-pp-cli@latest
```

If `--version` reports "command not found" after install, the runtime cannot see the binary directory on `$PATH`. Do not proceed with skill commands until verification succeeds.

## When to Use This CLI

Use notion-pp-cli when you need to manage Notion pages and blocks from the terminal, detect stale pages, or track what changed since a given time. Run `sync` once to populate the local store, then `stale` and `changed` work offline. Not a substitute for the Notion web UI for day-to-day editing.

## Unique Capabilities

These capabilities aren't available in any other tool for this API.

### Agent-native plumbing
- **`changed`** — Show everything in the workspace added, edited, or deleted since your last sync or a given timestamp.

  _Use at the start of an agent session to orient on what has changed before taking action._

  ```bash
  notion-pp-cli changed --since 2h --json
  ```
