## What it does

The skill gives agents access to the `firecrawl-pp-cli` binary. It runs single-page scrapes, multi-URL crawls, structured data extraction with LLMs, and deep research queries. It also maps sites and generates `llms.txt` files for documentation indexing.

Agent execution relies on clean output flags. The `--agent` option enables non-interactive, compact JSON output, while `--select` trims nested fields to keep agent context tight. Output can be piped directly or routed to files and endpoints using `--deliver`.

You must have the `firecrawl-pp-cli` executable on `$PATH` and supply an API key before invoking skill commands. Without `FIRECRAWL_BEARER_AUTH` or a configured auth token, all API calls fail immediately.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-firecrawl -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/pp-firecrawl/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/pp-firecrawl/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-firecrawl -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/pp-firecrawl/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-firecrawl -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/pp-firecrawl/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mvanhorn/printing-press-library pp-firecrawl
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/pp-firecrawl/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-firecrawl -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library --path cli-skills/pp-firecrawl
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/pp-firecrawl/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-firecrawl -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- crawl multiple URLs and monitor batch scrape status
- extract structured data from web pages using language models
- generate an llms.txt index file for a target site
- run deep research queries across web search results
- track team credit and token usage

## Example prompts
- Run firecrawl-pp-cli team get-credit-usage --agent to inspect remaining balance
- Search for scrape commands using firecrawl-pp-cli which "extract page content"
- Execute firecrawl-pp-cli llmstxt generate-llms-txt with agent output

# Firecrawl — Printing Press CLI

## Prerequisites: Install the CLI

This skill drives the `firecrawl-pp-cli` binary. **You must verify the CLI is installed before invoking any command from this skill.** If it is missing, install it first:

1. Install via the Printing Press installer. It defaults binaries to `$HOME/.local/bin` on macOS/Linux and `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\PrintingPress\bin` on Windows:
   ```bash
   npx -y @mvanhorn/printing-press-library install firecrawl --cli-only
   ```
2. Verify: `firecrawl-pp-cli --version`
3. Ensure the reported install directory is on `$PATH` for the agent/runtime that will invoke this skill.

If the `npx` install fails (no Node, offline, etc.), fall back to a direct Go install (requires Go 1.26.6 or newer):

```bash
go install github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/library/developer-tools/firecrawl/cmd/firecrawl-pp-cli@latest
```

If `--version` reports "command not found" after install, the runtime cannot see the binary directory on `$PATH`. Do not proceed with skill commands until verification succeeds.
