## What it does

The skill wraps the `digg-pp-cli` binary so an agent can pull Digg rankings, rank-change history, pipeline events and GitHub feeds. Everything is read-only — no voting, commenting or posting.

Commands inside: `search`, `posts`, `authors get`, `authors list`, `events`, `watch` and `replaced`. Search runs over topics with `--topic` (default `ai`), `posts` returns the X posts attached to one cluster with author rank and a ready citation URL. `authors get` reports the gap to rank 1000 measured in peer follows inside the AI 1000, not raw X follower count. Keep that in mind before you compare two handles.

Install the CLI first: `npx -y @mvanhorn/printing-press-library install digg --cli-only`, then check `digg-pp-cli --version`. If `npx` fails, there is a Go fallback that needs Go 1.26.6 or newer. When `--version` answers "command not found", the binary directory is missing from the runtime's `$PATH` and none of the skill commands will run.

## Requirements
- Works with: GitHub

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-digg -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/pp-digg/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/pp-digg/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-digg -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/pp-digg/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-digg -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/pp-digg/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mvanhorn/printing-press-library pp-digg
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/pp-digg/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-digg -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library --path cli-skills/pp-digg
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/pp-digg/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mvanhorn/printing-press-library --skill pp-digg -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/tree/HEAD/cli-skills/pp-digg/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- see what is trending on Digg for a topic
- catch stories that jumped ranks in the last hour
- find which stories Digg dropped and why
- check an X handle's rank in the AI 1000 before quoting
- pull cluster posts with citation URLs for a report

## Example prompts
- what's trending on Digg for ai
- show fast_climb events from the last hour
- which authors fell the most in the rankings

# Digg — Printing Press CLI

## Prerequisites: Install the CLI

This skill drives the `digg-pp-cli` binary. **You must verify the CLI is installed before invoking any command from this skill.** If it is missing, install it first:

1. Install via the Printing Press installer. It defaults binaries to `$HOME/.local/bin` on macOS/Linux and `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\PrintingPress\bin` on Windows:
   ```bash
   npx -y @mvanhorn/printing-press-library install digg --cli-only
   ```
2. Verify: `digg-pp-cli --version`
3. Ensure the reported install directory is on `$PATH` for the agent/runtime that will invoke this skill.

If the `npx` install fails (no Node, offline, etc.), fall back to a direct Go install (requires Go 1.26.6 or newer):

```bash
go install github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/library/media-and-entertainment/digg/cmd/digg-pp-cli@latest
```

If `--version` reports "command not found" after install, the runtime cannot see the binary directory on `$PATH`. Do not proceed with skill commands until verification succeeds.

## When to Use This CLI

Use this CLI when an agent or power user needs structured access to Digg's rankings, ranking-change history, pipeline events, per-cluster transparency record, or the GitHub feeds. It is the right tool for tracking AI-news cycle movement, building cross-aggregator research over HN+Techmeme+Digg, watching new AI repos the moment they're starred by tracked accounts, or exposing Digg signals into a larger automation. Do NOT use it for vote, comment, or post automation — those mutations are explicitly out of scope.
