# positioning-truth-tracer

Reconciles marketing positioning against actual shippable stages and the claims ledger. It flags unverified claims with [needs source] before launch.

## What it does

The skill evaluates an existing positioning canvas against shippable reality across release stages (`draft`, `alpha`, `beta`, or `GA`). It inspects `memory/claims/claims-ledger.md` and categorizes every differentiator with Measured, User-provided, or `[needs source]` status.

This tool acts strictly as a verifier in the TALE loop and feeds the T1 differentiation veto. It does not compose a positioning canvas or validate claims on its own. If you lack a canvas, run `positioning-mapper` first. Claims adjudication belongs to `offer-claims-registry`. Without input records, it cannot trace truth.

Outputs go to `memory/narrative/positioning-truth-tracer/`, while unverified statements pass via `registry-events.py` into event logs like `memory/events/claims.ndjson`. It never writes canonical decisions directly.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill positioning-truth-tracer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/positioning-truth-tracer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/positioning-truth-tracer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill positioning-truth-tracer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/positioning-truth-tracer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill positioning-truth-tracer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/positioning-truth-tracer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills positioning-truth-tracer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/positioning-truth-tracer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill positioning-truth-tracer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path narrative/trace/positioning-truth-tracer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/positioning-truth-tracer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill positioning-truth-tracer -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- reconcile positioning claims against shippable product stages
- flag undefended market differentiators as `[needs source]`
- test an onlyness statement against competitors and stage records
- prepare a verified truth set for downstream messaging architecture

## Example prompts
- Trace the positioning truth for our product. Canvas is at `memory/launch/positioning-mapper/canvas.md`, stage is beta.
- Reconcile our positioning canvas against the claims ledger and mark every differentiator needing proof.
- Test our current onlyness statement against named alternatives and the shippable stage.
