## What it does

The skill lays out a podcast pipeline: planning, recording, editing, production and distribution. Each stage runs off YAML configs — episode metadata, audio processing, mastering, show notes, RSS feed.

Audio processing is a fixed chain: noise reduction, normalization to -16 LUFS, 4:1 compression, a voice_enhance EQ preset, then intro and outro with 2s and 3s fades. Output is mp3 at 128kbps. Show notes come out as markdown with timestamps, takeaways and guest links.

Publishing and processing go through the `media-mcp` MCP server with its `podcast_publish`, `audio_process`, `rss_generate` and `distribution_sync` tools. Without it the agent can't push an episode to Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Distribution covers Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, Stitcher, Overcast, Pocket Casts, Castbox and YouTube, plus posts to Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. The analytics section in the source cuts off at the platform breakdown, so there's no full report there.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill podcast-automation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/podcast-automation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/podcast-automation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill podcast-automation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/podcast-automation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill podcast-automation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/podcast-automation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills podcast-automation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/podcast-automation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill podcast-automation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path podcast-automation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/podcast-automation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill podcast-automation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/podcast-automation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn a raw wav recording into a finished mp3
- level an episode to -16 LUFS
- generate show notes with timestamps and links
- refresh the RSS feed after publishing
- push an episode to podcast platforms and social

## Example prompts
- Process episode_12.wav with the audio_processing config and export the mp3
- Build show notes for episode 12 using show_notes_template
- Publish the episode through media-mcp and update the RSS feed
