## What it does

The skill covers MySQL query development and server administration. It can guide work with `SELECT`, `JOIN`, subqueries, `INSERT`, `UPDATE`, `DELETE`, stored procedures, triggers, and events. Its scope also includes database creation, users, privileges, the InnoDB and MyISAM engines, and character sets.

For performance work, it uses `EXPLAIN`, index tuning, the slow query log, and Performance Schema. It also covers `mysqldump`, binary logs, replication, Group Replication, MySQL Router, ProxySQL, and failover strategies. SQL fundamentals, Linux basics, and networking concepts are prerequisites, so those areas need to be familiar before tackling the administration tasks.

## When to use it
- inspect a query plan with `EXPLAIN`
- tune indexes and investigate slow queries
- create MySQL users with the right privileges
- plan backups with `mysqldump`
- configure replication and a failover strategy
