## What it does

The skill produces one metadata file, `settings/AgentforcePlatformTracing.settings-meta.xml`, and it holds a single boolean: `enableAgentforcePlatformTracing`. This is a singleton type with no other fields, so deploying it sets an org-wide preference. Set it to `true` and agent execution spans flow into Data Cloud's ingestion pipeline. Set it to `false` and they stop.

The run is short. It flags the org requirements first, then opens `assets/AgentforcePlatformTracing-template.xml`, replaces `{ENABLED}` with the state you asked for, and writes the result into your project's source tree. Before handing the file back it checks the namespace `http://soap.sforce.com/2006/04/metadata`, the filename and that nothing beyond the one field got in.

Three things have to be in place: Data Cloud provisioned in the org, the `PlatformObservability` org permission active, and API 68.0 or later. The permission and Data Cloud come from provisioning, not from metadata you deploy. Skip them and the deploy still completes while tracing stays silent.

Platform Tracing for `TraceSpanEvent` is a different feature. For that one, reach for `platform-tracing-configure` instead.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-tracing-agentforce-configure -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/platform-tracing-agentforce-configure/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/platform-tracing-agentforce-configure/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-tracing-agentforce-configure -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/platform-tracing-agentforce-configure/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-tracing-agentforce-configure -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/platform-tracing-agentforce-configure/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills platform-tracing-agentforce-configure
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/platform-tracing-agentforce-configure/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-tracing-agentforce-configure -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/platform-tracing-agentforce-configure
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/platform-tracing-agentforce-configure/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-tracing-agentforce-configure -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- turn on agent execution tracing for an org
- switch span forwarding off with one metadata file
- get a valid `settings-meta.xml` without hand-writing the XML
- find out why spans never show up in Data Cloud after a deploy
- keep this setting apart from Platform Tracing for `TraceSpanEvent`

## Example prompts
- Enable Agentforce tracing and generate the settings file.
- Turn off agent trace spans in `AgentforcePlatformTracing.settings-meta.xml`.
- The deploy went through but no agent spans reach Data Cloud. What's missing?

# Platform Tracing — Agentforce Configure

Generate AgentforcePlatformTracingSettings metadata to enable or disable forwarding of Agentforce agent execution trace spans to Data Cloud's ingestion pipeline. This is a singleton Settings type with one boolean field introduced in API v68.0 (Spring '25).

## Scope

- **In scope**: Generating `AgentforcePlatformTracing.settings-meta.xml` to enable or disable Agentforce agent tracing.
- **Out of scope**: Platform Tracing for TraceSpanEvent (use `platform-tracing-configure`). Event Log Files. Change Data Capture. Org permission provisioning. Data Cloud provisioning.

---

## Prerequisites

Before generating, inform the user of these requirements. The skill cannot check org state, but deploying without these prerequisites means the setting has no effect:

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 478bab05a5f37e50 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
