# platform-docs-get

Pulls official Salesforce documentation and keeps the agent answering from it instead of third-party blogs. Useful when pages are JS-heavy and a plain fetch returns an empty shell.

## What it does

The skill lays out a retrieval order for Salesforce docs: classify the doc family first, pin down the exact class, method or feature name, then go to an official domain. Sources are `developer.salesforce.com`, `help.salesforce.com`, `architect.salesforce.com`, `admin.salesforce.com` and `lightningdesignsystem.com`. Third-party blogs and videos stay out unless the user asks for them.

Acceptance rules are strict. A page is good enough only if the exact identifier or query phrase appears on it. Broad landing pages, release notes standing in for a reference page, and shell pages showing text like `Loading` or `Sorry to interrupt` get rejected. When the concept is missing, the agent inspects 1–3 official child links and stops once it has grounded evidence.

For `help.salesforce.com` the skill advises exact `articleView?id=...` URLs and browser-rendered extraction, since a plain request often returns only header and navigation. Optional extraction scripts live in `scripts/` and need `playwright` plus `python3` 3.10.0 or newer. The main workflow runs without them, but JS-heavy pages may only yield partial extraction — worth flagging in the answer.

Answers are expected to carry the article title, the exact official URL and the source type. If the evidence is weak, say so.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-docs-get -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/platform-docs-get/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/platform-docs-get/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-docs-get -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/platform-docs-get/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-docs-get -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/platform-docs-get/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills platform-docs-get
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/platform-docs-get/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-docs-get -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/platform-docs-get
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/platform-docs-get/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-docs-get -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/platform-docs-get/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- get the article body out of a help.salesforce.com page that serves only a shell
- find the exact reference page for an Apex class name
- tell an official doc apart from a blog rewrite
- follow child links from a hub page down to the real article
- back an LWC or Agentforce answer with a primary source

## Example prompts
- Find the official docs for Lightning Message Service and give me the developer.salesforce.com URL
- What does the official help say about Messaging for In-App and Web allowed domains? I need the article, not a landing page
- Pull the System.StubProvider reference from the official Salesforce docs

# platform-docs-get

Use this skill to retrieve and ground answers in **official Salesforce documentation on the public web**.

This skill provides a **reliable online retrieval playbook** for Salesforce docs that are hard to fetch, especially `help.salesforce.com`, JS-heavy `developer.salesforce.com`, Lightning Design System docs on `lightningdesignsystem.com`, and other official Salesforce-owned doc pages such as `architect.salesforce.com` and `admin.salesforce.com`.

Optional extraction scripts are available in `scripts/` — see the Reference File Index below.

## Scope

| | |
|---|---|
| **In scope** | Official Salesforce doc retrieval: Apex, API, LWC, metadata, Agentforce, setup articles, SLDS, architect/admin guidance |
| **Out of scope** | Third-party blogs, PDF fallback, local corpus indexing, benchmark workflows, generating code or metadata |

## Required Inputs

Before fetching, identify:
- The exact concept, identifier, class, method, or feature name being requested
- The likely doc family (developer docs, help articles, design system, architect/admin)

No additional setup is required to use the retrieval playbook in this skill. The optional extraction scripts require `playwright` — see `scripts/requirements.txt`.

## Official Sources Only
