# platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get

Checks standard Salesforce fields and relationships before SOQL, SOSL, or DML work. Use it when a field API name, type, or query capability needs verification.

## What it does

This skill contains a reference for 2130 standard Salesforce objects, including Account, Contact, Opportunity, Lead, Case, and ApexClass. It checks field API names, types, Createable, Filterable, Groupable, Sortable and Updateable properties, plus object relationships.

A field lookup checks both `fields` and `field_reference`. Query and update capability flags come only from `fields`; Tooling API records can also expose supported SOAP calls and REST methods.

Custom `__c` objects and fields are outside this reference, so inspect the live org with `sf sobject describe --sobject <Name>`. That is a reason to verify custom schema separately. The skill requires `jq` `>=1.6`, `node` `>=18.0.0`, `python3` `>=3.8`, and `sf` `>=2.0.0`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill platform-data-and-tooling-api-context-get -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- verify a standard Salesforce field API name
- check whether a SOQL field is filterable
- confirm a field type before DML
- find relationships between standard sObjects
- inspect Tooling API REST method support

## Example prompts
- “Check whether `CreatedDate` on `Account` can be used in a SOQL filter.”
- “Verify the type and updateability of `OwnerId` before DML on `Case`.”
- “Check which REST methods the `ApexClass` Tooling API record supports.”

# Salesforce Data + Tooling API Skill

This skill provides field-level reference for **2130 standard Salesforce objects** across two runtime API surfaces: the **Enterprise/Data API** (standard sObjects you query with SOQL and modify with DML) and the **Tooling API** (developer/metadata-adjacent records like `ApexClass`, `ApexCodeCoverage`, `TraceFlag`, and `EntityDefinition`).

Use it to look up authoritative field names, types, and properties **before** writing SOQL/SOSL, building DML, or reading records at runtime — so queries and writes don't fail with `INVALID_FIELD` / "No such column" errors.

> **Standard objects only.** These assets cover standard sObjects and
> Tooling records. Custom `__c` objects, and custom `__c` fields on standard
> objects, are **not** in this corpus — they don't exist as static docs pages.
> For those, describe the live org instead (`sf sobject describe --sobject <Name>`).

## Overview

Each object is documented as a JSON file with:

- Field definitions: name, type, and properties (Createable, Filterable, Groupable, Nillable, Sortable, Updateable)
- Relationship metadata (relationship name, referenced object, relationship type) for enterprise sObjects
- Supported SOAP calls and REST HTTP methods for Tooling records
- WSDL schema segment
- Usage notes and associated objects (enterprise sObjects)

> **This skill is for runtime data, not deployment.** For authoring `*-meta.xml`
