## What it does

The skill covers two kinds of Pipefy automations. Traditional ones are if/then rules with events, conditions and actions. AI automations run from a prompt and generate output via `generate_with_ai`.

For traditional rules you get `create_automation`, `update_automation`, `delete_automation`, plus `get_automation_events` and `get_automation_actions` to discover what a pipe supports. Conditions use a `condition` structure with `field_address`, `operation` and `value`. Grouping is done through `expressions_structure`: expressions in one inner array are AND'd, inner arrays are OR'd.

AI automations require explicit consent. The skill does not offer them until you ask. Before creating one, you discover field `internal_id`s via `get_phase_fields`, build a prompt with `%{<internal_id>}` references, and run `validate_ai_automation_prompt`. Validation catches mistakes before mutation calls. The skill reads only the reference for your active surface, MCP or CLI, and uses shared operation names.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add pipefy/ai-toolkit --skill pipefy-automations -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/pipefy-automations/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/pipefy-automations/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add pipefy/ai-toolkit --skill pipefy-automations -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/pipefy-automations/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add pipefy/ai-toolkit --skill pipefy-automations -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/pipefy-automations/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install pipefy/ai-toolkit pipefy-automations
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/pipefy-automations/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add pipefy/ai-toolkit --skill pipefy-automations -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/pipefy/ai-toolkit --path plugins/pipefy/skills/pipefy-automations
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/pipefy-automations/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add pipefy/ai-toolkit --skill pipefy-automations -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/pipefy/ai-toolkit/tree/HEAD/plugins/pipefy/skills/pipefy-automations/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create an if/then rule with field conditions
- discover events and actions for a pipe before writing a rule
- validate an AI automation prompt before creating it
- delete an automation permanently
- dry-run an AI automation with simulate_automation

## Example prompts
- Create a rule in pipe 67890: when status changes to Done, send a task
- List all AI automations in this pipe
- Validate the prompt for an automation that fills summary from field 900000102

# Automations

Read only the reference for your active surface: [MCP](references/mcp.md) or [CLI](references/cli.md). The workflows below use shared operation names and arguments.

Traditional automations (if/then rules), AI automations (prompt-driven), task automations, and simulation.

For AI agents (conversational agents with behaviors), see `pipefy-ai-agents`.

## Traditional automations (rules engine)

| Operation | Purpose |
| ------------ | --------- |
| `get_automations` | List rules with `event_id`, `event_params`, `condition`, `actionEnabled`, and `disabledReason`. Empty condition expressions are API placeholders, not active filters. Pages hold at most 50 rules; continue with `after` before concluding a rule or filter does not exist. |
| `get_automation` | Single automation with full rule config — returns `event_params` and `action_params` (including `aiParams` for AI rules). |
| `create_automation` | Create an if/then rule. `active` defaults to true. First-class typed `condition` (see [Conditions](#conditions--gate-a-rule-on-field-tests)); other fields via `extra_input`. |
| `update_automation` | Patch a rule: first-class typed `condition` (see [Conditions](#conditions--gate-a-rule-on-field-tests)) and/or `extra_input`. |
| `delete_automation` | Destructive delete. |
| `simulate_automation` | **AI-only** dry-run (`generate_with_ai` action). |
| `get_automation_events` | Available trigger events. |
| `get_automation_event_attributes` | Official `field_map.value` event-attribute tokens. |
| `get_automation_actions` | Available action types for a pipe. |
| `create_send_task_automation` | Shortcut for send-a-task rules. |

Logs, usage, and job exports for automations live in `pipefy-observability` (`get_automation_logs`, `get_automation_logs_by_repo`, `get_automations_usage`, `export_automation_jobs`, and related tools).

## AI automations (prompt-driven)

**Consent:** create or suggest an AI automation only when the user explicitly asked for AI. If it seems useful but was not requested, ask first — never introduce AI automations without being asked.

| Operation | Purpose |
| ------------ | --------- |
| `get_ai_automations` | List `generate_with_ai` rules from the pipe's mixed listing. Each page contains at most 50 mixed rules; continue with `after` before concluding an AI rule does not exist. |
