## What it does

The `persona` skill creates a panel of AI personas for a given market, then questions each persona in its own subprocess so the answers stay independent. Three stages: build the panel, run an interview or a concept test, review the findings. The output is a report with themes, cross-tabs, charts and verbatims.

There are three commands. `/persona generate` builds a panel — 5 personas by default, `--count` changes the size, `--segments` switches to a segment-driven flow and raises the size to 15. `/persona ask` puts an open-ended question about motivations, barriers and language. `/persona concept-test` compares options once you need a structured choice. The market comes from `--market`: codes such as `us`, `japan`/`jp`, `uk`, `de`, `fr`, `cn`, `kr`, or a freeform description. For `ask` you can pin a saved panel with `--panel` and its survey-id.

The author advises against rushing persona generation: five detailed, clearly different personas beat fifteen generic ones. Response JSON is validated before analysis, and skipping that check throws off the whole report. Input requirements and output formats per command live in `references/command-details.md`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add takechanman1228/claude-persona --skill persona -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/persona/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/persona/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add takechanman1228/claude-persona --skill persona -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/persona/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add takechanman1228/claude-persona --skill persona -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/persona/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install takechanman1228/claude-persona persona
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/persona/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add takechanman1228/claude-persona --skill persona -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/takechanman1228/claude-persona --path skills/persona
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/persona/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add takechanman1228/claude-persona --skill persona -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- build an AI persona panel for a specific market
- find out what stops people from picking a product
- compare several product concepts before fieldwork
- check whether an ad message lands
- get a report with themes and cross-tabs from panel answers

## Example prompts
- Build a panel of 10 personas: running shoe shoppers in the US
- Ask the panel what frustrates them most about choosing skincare
- Run a concept test on 3 canned coffee concepts for the Japanese market

# AI Persona Panels for Customer Research

Build reusable persona panels, ask open-ended customer questions,
and run concept tests on messages, offers, and product ideas.

## 3-Step Workflow

Inspired by TinyTroupe (Generate Personas → Simulate Interactions → Extract & Analyze):

| Step | What happens | Component |
|------|-------------|-----------|
| **1. Build Panel** | Define your market, generate diverse personas | Panel Builder |
| **2. Run Ask / Concept Test** | Each persona responds independently in its own subprocess | Simulation Engine |
| **3. Review Findings** | Structured report with themes, cross-tabs, charts, and verbatims | Analysis Pipeline |

Recommended workflow:
1. `/persona generate` — build a reusable panel
2. `/persona ask` — explore motivations, barriers, language, and decision criteria
3. `/persona concept-test` — compare explicit options when ready for a structured choice task

## Quality Guidelines

- **Take your time with persona generation.** Diverse, detailed personas are the foundation of useful results. Do not skip diversity verification.
- **Do not skip validation.** Always verify response JSON structure before proceeding to analysis.
- **Quality over speed.** A 5-persona panel with rich, differentiated responses is more valuable than a 15-persona panel with generic answers.

## Quick Reference

| Command | What it does |
|---------|-------------|
| `/persona generate Running shoe shoppers in the US` | Build a reusable panel (default 5 personas) |
| `/persona generate --count 10 Gen Z skincare shoppers in the US` | Panel with custom size |
| `/persona generate --segments Canned coffee drinkers in Japan` | Segment-driven panel (default 15) |
| `/persona ask What frustrates you most about choosing skincare products?` | Explore motivations and barriers |
