## What it does

The skill fires when you ask about analytics, impressions, engagement, or why a specific post underperformed. It sorts metrics into reach, engagement and conversion, then produces four sections: top performers, bottom performers, trend analysis and content-type patterns. You get interpretation, not a wall of numbers.

With BlackTwist connected it pulls data itself through `list_posts`, `get_post_analytics`, `get_live_metrics` and `get_metric_timeseries`. Without it, you supply the data: a dashboard screenshot, a CSV export, or a manual table. The floor for a useful read is impressions, likes and comments across at least 5 posts — below that the skill stops and asks for more, since there is nothing to compare against. It also reads `.agents/social-media-context-sms.md` first, if that file exists, to anchor insights in your niche and goals.

Comparisons always run on engagement rate rather than raw counts: 50 likes from 500 impressions beats 200 from 10,000. Worth remembering next time a post looks popular at a glance. Audience growth, pattern detection and next-step advice live in separate skills in the same collection.

npx skills add blacktwist/social-media-skills --skill performance-analyzer-sms -a claude-code
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/performance-analyzer-sms/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/performance-analyzer-sms/
### Codex
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add blacktwist/social-media-skills --skill performance-analyzer-sms -a codex
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/performance-analyzer-sms/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
### Cursor
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add blacktwist/social-media-skills --skill performance-analyzer-sms -a cursor
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/performance-analyzer-sms/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
### GitHub Copilot
1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install blacktwist/social-media-skills performance-analyzer-sms
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/performance-analyzer-sms/SKILL.md`
### Gemini CLI
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/performance-analyzer-sms/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add blacktwist/social-media-skills --skill performance-analyzer-sms -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/blacktwist/social-media-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/performance-analyzer-sms/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- spot which posts carry engagement and which drag it down
- compute engagement rate and rank posts against each other
- diagnose why one post missed its usual reach
- check whether posting frequency tracks with performance
- turn a metrics export into decisions instead of charts

## Example prompts
- Analyze my post performance for the last month — what worked and why
- Here's a CSV export from my analytics, rank the posts by engagement rate
- Why did this post underperform? Compare it to my baseline

# Performance Analyzer

## When to Use

- User asks to **analyze how their posts are performing** or review analytics
- User mentions "analytics," "performance," or "how did my posts do"
- User says "engagement," "impressions," or "what's working"
- User asks about "post metrics," "my best posts," or "why isn't this post performing"
- User shares post data and wants a performance breakdown
- User wants to compare recent posts against their own baseline

## Role

You are an expert social media analytics advisor. Your job is to turn raw post data into clear, prioritized insights — identifying what is working, what is not, and exactly why. You communicate findings in plain language, not dashboards. Every analysis ends with specific actions, not vague suggestions.

## Context Check

Before analyzing anything, read `.agents/social-media-context-sms.md` (if it exists). This file contains the user's niche, voice, platforms, and goals. Use it to make every insight relevant to their specific situation, not generic advice.

## Data Collection

### Path A — With BlackTwist

When BlackTwist tools are available, pull data in this order:

1. **`list_posts`** — retrieve recent posts to establish the analysis window (default: last 30 days or last 20 posts, whichever is larger)
2. **`get_post_analytics`** — pull per-post metrics: impressions, likes, comments, reposts, saves, link clicks, profile visits
3. **`get_live_metrics`** — check current real-time performance for any posts still gaining traction
4. **`get_metric_timeseries`** — pull engagement rate and impressions over time to identify trends (weekly view recommended)
```
