## What it does

This skill acts as a syntax cheat sheet for network auditing and security testing tools. It compiles command patterns for Nmap and SQLMap, covering host discovery and service detection flags. The lookup happens inside the chat. This saves time on checking man pages.

Running the referenced commands requires a penetration testing setup like Kali Linux. Explicit testing authorization is mandatory. Without the underlying terminal packages and wordlists installed, the examples have nowhere to run. The skill supplies command templates, so verifying parameters before execution remains the user's duty.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zebbern/claude-code-guide --skill pentest-commands -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/pentest-commands/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/pentest-commands/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zebbern/claude-code-guide --skill pentest-commands -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/pentest-commands/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zebbern/claude-code-guide --skill pentest-commands -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/pentest-commands/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install zebbern/claude-code-guide pentest-commands
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/pentest-commands/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zebbern/claude-code-guide --skill pentest-commands -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/zebbern/claude-code-guide --path skills/pentest-commands
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/pentest-commands/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zebbern/claude-code-guide --skill pentest-commands -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/zebbern/claude-code-guide/tree/HEAD/skills/pentest-commands/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- look up Nmap options for host discovery and service scans
- find Nikto flags to inspect web server configurations
- prepare SQLMap parameters for database assessment tests
- retrieve Hydra syntax for protocol authentication checks

## Example prompts
- Show me the Nmap command for service version detection on a host
- How do I run a Nikto scan and save the report to an HTML file?
- Give me SQLMap syntax to test a login form via POST request

# Pentest Commands

## Purpose

Provide a comprehensive command reference for penetration testing tools including network scanning, exploitation, password cracking, and web application testing. Enable quick command lookup during security assessments.

## Inputs/Prerequisites

- Kali Linux or penetration testing distribution
- Target IP addresses with authorization
- Wordlists for brute forcing
- Network access to target systems
- Basic understanding of tool syntax

## Outputs/Deliverables

- Network enumeration results
- Identified vulnerabilities
- Exploitation payloads
- Cracked credentials
- Web vulnerability findings

## Core Workflow

### 1. Nmap Commands

**Host Discovery:**

```bash
# Ping sweep
nmap -sP 192.168.1.0/24
# List IPs without scanning
nmap -sL 192.168.1.0/24
# Ping scan (host discovery)
nmap -sn 192.168.1.0/24
```

**Port Scanning:**

```bash
# TCP SYN scan (stealth)
nmap -sS 192.168.1.1
# Full TCP connect scan
nmap -sT 192.168.1.1
# UDP scan
nmap -sU 192.168.1.1
# All ports (1-65535)
nmap -p- 192.168.1.1
# Specific ports
nmap -p 22,80,443 192.168.1.1
```

**Service Detection:**

```bash
# Service versions
nmap -sV 192.168.1.1
# OS detection
nmap -O 192.168.1.1
# Comprehensive scan
nmap -A 192.168.1.1
# Skip host discovery
nmap -Pn 192.168.1.1
```

**NSE Scripts:**

```bash
# Vulnerability scan
nmap --script vuln 192.168.1.1
# SMB enumeration
nmap --script smb-enum-shares -p 445 192.168.1.1
# HTTP enumeration
