## What it does

It runs through the `office-mcp` MCP server and its `fill_pdf_form` and `get_pdf_metadata` tools. Supported field types: text, checkbox, radio button, dropdown, date, signature and combo box. Values go in through a field map — you describe how form field names line up with your data, and the agent fills the document.

Templates cover repeat work: a field map, a YAML mapping of values, and a sample JSON payload. Validation runs before the fill — email format, phone digits, SSN, date, ZIP, positive amounts, plus cross-field rules like employer_name being required when employed is true. The result report lists how many fields were filled, what failed, and which warnings came up.

Batch mode reads a CSV and produces one form per row into an output folder. The signature field needs a certificate or an image, so it stays manual — the report flags it as a warning. Install goes through `npx skills add`, or `gh skill install` for GitHub Copilot.

Check your field names before the run. A name that does not match the form means that field is silently skipped, and you only learn about it from the report.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill pdf-form-filler -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/pdf-form-filler/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/pdf-form-filler/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill pdf-form-filler -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/pdf-form-filler/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill pdf-form-filler -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/pdf-form-filler/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills pdf-form-filler
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/pdf-form-filler/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill pdf-form-filler -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path pdf-form-filler
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/pdf-form-filler/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill pdf-form-filler -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/pdf-form-filler/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- fill a PDF form from JSON or YAML data
- extract every field value from a completed PDF
- generate a batch of forms from CSV rows
- validate email, phone, date and ZIP before filling
- map a form's fields with types and required flags

## Example prompts
- Fill this PDF form: name John Smith, date 2026-01-29, amount $1,500
- Extract all form field values from this PDF
- Generate forms for each row in this CSV
