## What it does

This skill chains drafting stages into an automated sequence: `/prior-art-search`, `/patent-novelty-check`, `/invention-structuring`, `/claims-drafting`, `/specification-writing`, `/patent-review`, and `/jurisdiction-format`. It supports patent applications across CN (CNIPA), US (USPTO), and EP (EPO) jurisdictions. For China, it also drafts utility models with apparatus claims for a 10-year term.

Review phases rely on `gpt-6-astra` routed through `mcp__codex__codex`. The pipeline pauses at checkpoints by default because `AUTO_PROCEED` is set to `false`. Explicit inventor confirmation is required before proceeding. State is written to `patent/PATENT_STATE.json` after each phase, letting you resume an interrupted run within 24 hours. The skill can parse project files like `INVENTION_BRIEF.md` or `IDEA_REPORT.md` directly.

The pipeline will fail at the review stage if the Codex MCP server is not available in your environment.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill patent-pipeline -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/patent-pipeline/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/patent-pipeline/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill patent-pipeline -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/patent-pipeline/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill patent-pipeline -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/patent-pipeline/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep patent-pipeline
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/patent-pipeline/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill patent-pipeline -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/patent-pipeline
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/patent-pipeline/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill patent-pipeline -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/patent-pipeline/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Draft patent claims hierarchies with independent and dependent claims
- Format filing documents to CNIPA, USPTO, or EPO standards
- Run prior art searches and novelty verification
- Prepare utility model applications for the Chinese jurisdiction

## Example prompts
- /patent-pipeline "invention — US"
- /patent-pipeline "utility model — CN"
- /patent-pipeline "invention — EP, language: English"

# Patent Pipeline: From Invention to Filing

## Overview

This skill orchestrates the full patent drafting lifecycle -- from prior art search through jurisdiction-formatted filing documents. It chains sub-skills into a patent-specific pipeline:

```
/prior-art-search → /patent-novelty-check → /invention-structuring → /claims-drafting → /specification-writing → /patent-review → /jurisdiction-format
     (search)           (verify)              (structure)             (claims)            (description)          (examiner)         (compile)
                                                                                              ├── /figure-description
                                                                                              └── /embodiment-description
```

**This is a parallel branch, not part of the linear research pipeline.** After `/idea-discovery` produces validated ideas, the user can either:
- Go to `/experiment-bridge` → `/auto-review-loop` → `/paper-writing` (publish track)
- Go to `/grant-proposal` (funding track)
- Go to `/patent-pipeline` (patent track) **<-- this skill**

```
                    ┌→ /experiment-bridge → /auto-review-loop → /paper-writing  (publish track)
