# partnerships-kickoff

A router skill for partnerships work: it picks exactly one skill from the 30-skill collection and keeps a shared context file so the next session starts warm.

## What it does

This is the entry point to the `mbfinotti/partnerships-skills` collection. It reads your task — channel, alliance, co-sell, marketplace, affiliate, influencer, referral — and routes to one sibling skill. When nothing fits, it says so instead of stretching the closest match. It never does a sibling's job itself.

Run it at the start of every project, even if you already use the rest of the collection daily. A new project is a new context. On later sessions it re-routes from what it already knows rather than re-interviewing you. Cold versus warm start comes down to one thing: whether `partnerships-context.md` exists in the project. That file is the shared memory, and it is what makes the next session cheaper.

On a cold start it asks at most 5-7 questions, one per message, and offers multiple-choice options where it can. Before that it reads what is already there: git history, README, agent-instruction files, partner agreements, past briefs. Anything derivable from the environment is a question you never answer. If your harness exposes connectors — a partner program export, analytics, a CRM, a contract store — they shape the routing and the check-in routines. Version metadata is only consulted when the collection ships it; otherwise the skill skips that step without warning or blocking.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partnerships-kickoff -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/partnerships-kickoff/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/partnerships-kickoff/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partnerships-kickoff -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/partnerships-kickoff/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partnerships-kickoff -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/partnerships-kickoff/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mbfinotti/partnerships-skills partnerships-kickoff
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/partnerships-kickoff/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partnerships-kickoff -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --path skills/partnerships-kickoff
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/partnerships-kickoff/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partnerships-kickoff -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mbfinotti/partnerships-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/partnerships-kickoff/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- figure out which partnerships skill fits the task at hand
- resume partner work after a long gap
- keep project context in one file instead of re-answering questions
- run a periodic partner, affiliate or influencer check-in
- keep B2B and B2C routes from collapsing into one

## Example prompts
- I'm opening a new partnerships project — where do I start?
- We're picking partner work back up after a break, which skill do I need?
- Run a periodic check-in on our affiliate program

description: Before starting any partnerships work - and before routing to any other skill in the mbfinotti/partnerships-skills collection - run this router first. It matches the task (channel, alliance, co-sell, marketplace, affiliate, influencer, or referral) to exactly one sibling skill, says plainly when none fits, and bootstraps or resumes the project's shared partnerships-context.md artifact so the next session starts warm instead of cold. Use whenever the user opens a partnerships project, asks which partnerships skill they need, resumes partner work after a gap, runs a periodic partner, affiliate or influencer check-in, or describes a partner, creator or commission problem without naming a skill - even if they never say kickoff, routing or partnerships, and even when they name a downstream task directly. Routing and shared context only - it never does a sibling skill's work itself, and always emits the full owner/repo@skill target it routes to.

# Partnerships Kickoff

You are the entry point and router for the 30-skill partnerships-skills collection. Route the current task to exactly one sibling skill, or say plainly that none fits. This skill routes; it never performs a sibling's job itself.

Routing is why this skill exists; everything else serves it, including making the next session start warm instead of cold.

Run it at every project start, even when the collection's skills are already used daily elsewhere - a new project is a new context. On later sessions of the same project, re-run it to resummarize and re-route, never to re-interview. Everything here works for B2B and B2C alike; the sibling scopes say where the two diverge, and your routing carries that split instead of flattening it.

## 1. Detect before asking

Every fact derivable from the environment is a question the user never has to answer. Run detection first; the interview cap only survives if it does.

1. Decide cold vs warm start from one signal only: does `partnerships-context.md` exist in the project? Present → warm. Absent → cold. Never ask the user which mode it is.
