# partner-enablement

Sequences the training, content and certification a partner program needs so partners sell on their own. It plans the roadmap, not the modules.

## What it does

The skill architects a partner enablement roadmap: a skills-gap needs assessment, enablement tracks split by partner role and type, certification design with a refresh cadence, and a pilot cohort. Everything is designed backwards from the partner's first deal — the minimum knowledge to register a qualified opportunity, then deeper training as the deal progresses.

It starts with an interview, one question per message, multiple-choice options offered. The skill asks about the program type (B2B channel or a consumer network such as franchise, dealer or ambassador), partner types, which enablement assets exist and where they came from, time-to-first-deal, who owns enablement day to day, and how many hours partners will realistically bear. It also asks whether you want a one-off win or a compounding asset, and what your effort ceiling is — those answers re-rank every option menu later.

Then comes the needs assessment: interviews with 5-10 partners split between active and inactive, a current-state versus desired-state map for each enablement component, and a gap document. After that you pick one of three sequencing approaches — a minimum-viable first-deal path, certification-first, or a comprehensive up-front curriculum. The skill states the ranking out loud, recommends the top rung and waits for your pick. It never writes the training module, battlecard or exam; that is downstream work. For affiliate welcome emails there is a separate skill, `affiliate-onboarding-sequence`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partner-enablement -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/partner-enablement/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/partner-enablement/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partner-enablement -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/partner-enablement/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partner-enablement -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/partner-enablement/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mbfinotti/partnerships-skills partner-enablement
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/partner-enablement/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partner-enablement -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --path skills/partner-enablement
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/partner-enablement/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mbfinotti/partnerships-skills --skill partner-enablement -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mbfinotti/partnerships-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/partner-enablement/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- sequence partner training backwards from the first deal
- assess skills gaps across active and inactive partners
- split enablement tracks by partner role and type
- design certification and its refresh cadence
- run a pilot cohort before the full curriculum

## Example prompts
- build a partner enablement roadmap designed backwards from the first deal
- run a skills-gap needs assessment and produce a gap document
- compare the minimum-viable first-deal path with certification-first for our program

name: partner-enablement
description: Sequence the training, content, and certification a B2B partner program needs to make partners self-sufficient sellers - the partner enablement roadmap, not the training content itself. Covers the skills-gap needs assessment, enablement tracks split by partner role and type, certification design and refresh cadence, and a pilot cohort, all designed backwards from the partner's first deal. Also covers B2C analogs (franchise, dealer, ambassador education). Use whenever the user mentions partner enablement, partner certification, channel partner training, a partner onboarding curriculum, or ramping partners to a first deal, even if they never say enablement. Do NOT use for affiliate welcome emails - use mbfinotti/partnerships-skills@affiliate-onboarding-sequence instead.

# Partner Enablement

Sequence what training, content, and certification partners need to become self-sufficient sellers. This skill architects and orders the enablement roadmap; it never writes the actual training module, battlecard, or exam - those are downstream tactical work.

No canonical partner-enablement methodology exists. Say so plainly rather than invent one. What the field genuinely offers:

- **Established methods are instructional-design methods only**: Kirkpatrick's Four Levels (1959) and Phillips ROI for evaluation, ADDIE and SAM for the build process, 70-20-10 as a heuristic (widely cited, weak empirical base). None is channel-native; applying them to partners is a practitioner adaptation - flag it as such.
- **Everything labeled a "partner enablement framework" or lifecycle model** is PRM-vendor content marketing or proprietary analyst IP (Forrester/Canalys) - internally consistent and often useful, never independent methodology.
