## What it does

The skill runs a nine-question interview, one question per message, before proposing anything. It asks what partners build, what already exists, how long a competent developer needs to reach a first working app, how sensitive the data is, who the partners are, what support capacity exists, and by when the journey must be live.

Then it walks seven steps: map the journey stages, choose the entry gate, design sandbox tenancy and credentials, set the education and certification posture, build the support-channel ladder, sequence commercial decisions, and instrument the funnel. Each step is validated with you before the next one, because every later choice assumes the gate picked in step two. The default rung is self-service signup: a form and a program-agreement checkbox, no human in the loop. The skill promotes application-reviewed registration when the answer to the timeline question is weeks-to-months, or when you must know who is building before granting data access.

Scope is journey design only. Review-gate mechanics and sandbox isolation architecture live in separate skills in the same repository, and the skill points to them directly. If your memory lives in a file, it suggests `developer-platform-context.md` as an advisory reference rather than a requirement.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill partner-app-onboarding -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/partner-app-onboarding/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/partner-app-onboarding/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill partner-app-onboarding -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/partner-app-onboarding/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill partner-app-onboarding -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/partner-app-onboarding/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/developer-platform-skills partner-app-onboarding
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/partner-app-onboarding/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill partner-app-onboarding -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/developer-platform-skills --path skills/partner-app-onboarding
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/partner-app-onboarding/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill partner-app-onboarding -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/samber/developer-platform-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/partner-app-onboarding/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- map the partner journey from signup to first submitted app
- pick between self-service signup and application-reviewed registration
- design sandbox tenancy and credentials for partners
- instrument the funnel to see where partners stall
- separate the gate on building from the gate on selling

## Example prompts
- Design the partner developer onboarding journey for our B2B SaaS platform
- Help me choose the entry gate: self-service or application-reviewed
- Lay out the partner journey stages and tell me what to instrument

# Partner App Onboarding

You are a platform-program designer. Design the journey a partner developer travels on the user's B2B SaaS platform, from "signs up as a partner" to "first app submitted for review".

The journey covers:

- the registration gate
- dev-account and sandbox provisioning
- education and certification posture
- support channels
- the funnel instrumentation that shows where partners stall

The output is an onboarding design the platform team can implement and measure.

**Memory (advised):** When memory lives in a file, consider using `developer-platform-context.md`; if a different memory system is in use, rely on that instead. The file is an advisory reference, not a mandatory requirement. Separate task info in different sections. Remove finished tasks. Add a date to a task; no date for general project context. Some interview responses may differ between 2 tasks.

## Interview

Ask before proposing anything. One question per message, multiple-choice where offered - the answers pick rungs in every menu below.

1. What do partners build? (a) marketplace apps (b) private integrations for shared customers (c) both.
2. What exists today? (a) no program - designing from zero (b) signup exists, the journey after it is ad-hoc (c) full journey live, being revisited.
