## What it does

This skill creates an authentic participation ramp before promotional posts go live. It specifies account history expectations with cited sources and compiles dated community rule digests. It also defines a give-before-ask ledger spec. For owned channels in Discord or Slack, it designs entry paths alongside member lifecycle stages.

The output defines testable graduation criteria to transition an account from warming to active status. The skill reads channel dossiers and pulls platform rules via scripts like `hn.py` or `discourse.py`. It writes the resulting plan to `memory/social/participation-warmup-planner/` and proposes lifecycle events into `memory/events/channels.ndjson`.

The skill only generates the planning document. It never automates community engagement. Every post and reply must be handled by a human, as engagement pods and scripted replies violate the platform rules.

## Install

```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/participation-warmup-planner/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/participation-warmup-planner/
### Codex
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill participation-warmup-planner -a codex
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/participation-warmup-planner/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
### Cursor
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill participation-warmup-planner -a cursor
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/participation-warmup-planner/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
### GitHub Copilot
1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills participation-warmup-planner
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/participation-warmup-planner/SKILL.md`
### Gemini CLI
## When to use it
- Calculate account age and karma thresholds before starting promotion
- Compile a dated community etiquette and rule digest
- Track give-before-ask ratios prior to sharing promotional links
- Design onboarding paths and member lifecycle stages for an owned Discord or Slack space
## Example prompts
- Plan the participation warmup for r/selfhosted and Hacker News — we want to promote in 8 weeks
- Our account is 3 weeks old with 12 posts: build the warming to active graduation checklist
- Design entry incentives and member lifecycle stages for our upcoming Discord space
