## What it does

This meta-skill scaffolds folders under `.claude/skills/<skill-name>/`, creating the required `SKILL.md` along with optional script and template directories. It sets up frontmatter permissions using tools like `Bash`, `Read`, and `Write`, then documents trigger conditions and step-by-step instructions.

It also handles MCP pipeline skills. The skill copies Python template scripts, chains calls between MCP tools, and wires execution through `uv run python -m runtime.harness`. You can also configure keyword and intent triggers inside `skill-rules.json`.

Generating MCP chains depends on the runtime harness files from the Continuous Claude repository. Projects without that harness require adjusting the execution scripts manually.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill skill-developer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/skill-developer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/skill-developer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill skill-developer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/skill-developer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill skill-developer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/skill-developer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 skill-developer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/skill-developer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill skill-developer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --path .claude/skills/skill-developer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/skill-developer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill skill-developer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3/tree/HEAD/.claude/skills/skill-developer/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Scaffold a new skill directory with a valid `SKILL.md` file
- Turn existing standalone scripts into structured skills
- Chain multiple MCP tools into an automated pipeline
- Register prompt triggers and keywords in `skill-rules.json`

## Example prompts
- Create a skill for managing changelogs
- Turn this python script into a Claude Code skill
- Help me build an MCP pipeline skill for web scraping

# Skill Developer

Meta-skill for creating new Claude Code skills, including skills that wrap MCP pipelines.

## When to Use

- "Create a skill for X"
- "Help me make a new skill"
- "Turn this script into a skill"
- "How do I create a skill?"

## Skill Structure

Skills live in `.claude/skills/<skill-name>/`:

```
.claude/skills/my-skill/
├── SKILL.md          # Required: Main skill definition
├── scripts/          # Optional: Supporting scripts
└── templates/        # Optional: Templates, examples
```

### SKILL.md Format

```yaml
---
name: skill-name
description: Brief description (shown in skill list)
allowed-tools: [Bash, Read, Write]  # Optional: restrict tools
---
# Skill Name
## When to Use
## Instructions
## Examples
```

## Creating an MCP Pipeline Skill

To create a new MCP chain script and wrap it as a skill:

### Step 1: Use the Template

Copy the multi-tool-pipeline template:

```bash
cp $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR/scripts/multi_tool_pipeline.py $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR/scripts/my_pipeline.py
```

Reference the template pattern:

```bash
cat $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR/.claude/skills/multi-tool-pipeline/SKILL.md
cat $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR/scripts/multi_tool_pipeline.py
```

### Step 2: Customize the Script

Edit your new script to chain the MCP tools you need:

```python
async def main():
    from runtime.mcp_client import call_mcp_tool
    args = parse_args()
    # Chain your MCP tools (serverName__toolName)
    result1 = await call_mcp_tool("server1__tool1", {"param": args.arg1})
    result2 = await call_mcp_tool("server2__tool2", {"input": result1})
    print(result2)
```

### Step 2: Create the Skill

Create `.claude/skills/my-pipeline/SKILL.md`:

```markdown
---
name: my-pipeline
description: What the pipeline does
allowed-tools: [Bash, Read]
---
# My Pipeline Skill
## When to Use
- [Trigger conditions]
## Instructions
Run the pipeline:
\`\`\`bash
uv run python -m runtime.harness scripts/my_pipeline.py --arg1 "value"
\`\`\`
### Parameters
- `--arg1`: Description
## MCP Servers Required
- server1: For tool1
- server2: For tool2
```

### Step 3: Add Triggers (Optional)

Add to `.claude/skills/skill-rules.json`:

```json
{
  "skills": {
    "my-pipeline": {
      "type": "domain",
      "enforcement": "suggest",
      "priority": "medium",
      "description": "What it does",
      "promptTriggers": {
        "keywords": ["keyword1", "keyword2"],
        "intentPatterns": ["(pattern).*?(match)"]
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## Reference Files

For full details, read:

```bash
cat $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR/.claude/rules/skill-development.md
cat $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR/.claude/rules/mcp-scripts.md
```
