## What it does

This skill guides Claude Code in interacting with Paperclip environments. The underlying platform organizes AI workers into formal reporting structures, assigning titles and direct reports across engines such as Claude Code or Cursor.

Task distribution follows an objective tree. Because tickets inherit goal ancestry, workers retain the rationale behind assigned work. Spending remains capped through self-reported token counters. Once an agent exhausts its monthly USD limit, the engine halts further operations. Recurring checks run via cron heartbeats.

Local setups require at least Node.js 20 and pnpm 9.15+. The server initializes an internal PostgreSQL instance at `http://localhost:3100`, while production deployments connect to external Postgres and S3 storage.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill paperclip-ai-orchestration -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill paperclip-ai-orchestration -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill paperclip-ai-orchestration -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install reason-machines/trending-skills paperclip-ai-orchestration
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill paperclip-ai-orchestration -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills --path skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill paperclip-ai-orchestration -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/paperclip-ai-orchestration/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- structure multiple agents into an organizational chart with roles
- enforce strict monthly USD budget caps per worker
- schedule recurring task lookups with cron-based heartbeats
- align individual tickets with overarching company goals

## Example prompts
- Initialize a new company in Paperclip and register Alice as CTO
- Set a $200 monthly budget cap for the Claude Code agent in Paperclip
- Schedule an hourly heartbeat to fetch open tickets from Paperclip
