## What it does

The skill lays out academic conference posters in a single HTML document styled with `@page { size: W H }` and renders them to PDF using Playwright print emulation. Layout quality relies on automated measurements rather than screen inspection. The `run_gates.py` script executes strict validation stages covering preflight, style, assets, dimensions, and polish. Only posters passing every hard gate reach visual review.

Custom inline styles and arbitrary hex codes are blocked by design. The workflow enforces a two-hue palette based on slate-blue `#2D5F8B` and gold `#C9A24A` from `templates/tokens/generic.json`. Purple accent colors remain disabled unless the user explicitly passes `-- allow-purple: true`. Figures must come from the actual paper, tracked with sha256 checksums in `FIGURE_MANIFEST.json`.

Generating the print file requires Playwright with Chromium alongside PyMuPDF or `pdftoppm`. If Chromium is unavailable, the pipeline produces only a layout scaffold and content plan without emitting a final PDF. Setup the local Python environment before starting.

## Requirements
- Works with: Chrome

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-poster-html -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/paper-poster-html/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/paper-poster-html/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-poster-html -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/paper-poster-html/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-poster-html -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/paper-poster-html/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep paper-poster-html
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/paper-poster-html/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-poster-html -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/paper-poster-html
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/paper-poster-html/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-poster-html -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/paper-poster-html/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- compile an academic conference poster into a single HTML file
- generate a print-ready PDF using headless Chromium emulation
- verify layout geometry with automated measurement gates
- track and authenticate paper figures with SHA-256 checksums
- restrict poster colors to a disciplined two-hue design system

## Example prompts
- Create a conference poster for ICLR from paper.pdf on a canvas of 185x90cm landscape
- Build a poster from ./my-paper using conference branding — venue: NeurIPS, venue-colors: true
- Redo the poster layout for draft.pdf preserving authentic paper figures
