Verifies that every number, comparison and scope claim in a paper matches the raw result files. Worth running before you submit.

## What it does

The skill hands a reviewer nothing but the paper sources and the raw result files. No experiment logs, no executor notes, no earlier audit output. That is the point: with no expectations to satisfy, the reviewer just compares text against data.

Its protocol has three stages. First, pull out every quantitative claim and note where it sits in the text. Then trace each one to the file that holds the value and mark it exact, rounded or mismatched. A list of known failure modes follows: inflated numbers, a best seed passed off as the average, methods compared under different configs, captions that describe something other than the table below them, and relative deltas whose arithmetic does not hold.

Codex MCP is the default reviewer, and the slot can be reassigned through `.aris/reviewer.json`. Because the skill returns a verdict, the docs ask you not to wrap it in `/loop`, `/schedule` or `CronCreate` — re-firing on a timer adds nothing until the paper or the results change. Pass the paper directory as the argument, as in `[paper-directory]`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-claim-audit -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/paper-claim-audit/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/paper-claim-audit/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-claim-audit -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/paper-claim-audit/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-claim-audit -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/paper-claim-audit/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep paper-claim-audit
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/paper-claim-audit/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-claim-audit -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/paper-claim-audit
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/paper-claim-audit/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill paper-claim-audit -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/paper-claim-audit/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- match table percentages against raw `results/*.json`
- catch a best seed reported as the mean
- recheck the arithmetic behind a claimed relative gain
- spot two methods compared under different configs
- confirm a figure caption matches what the figure shows

## Example prompts
- audit the claims in my paper: `paper-claim-audit paper/`
- verify the numbers in `main.tex` against `results/`
- run a data audit before I submit

# Paper Claim Audit: Zero-Context Evidence Verification

> **Before each reviewer slot**, follow [Selectable Reviewers](../shared-references/reviewer-backends.md):
> resolve invocation → `.aris/reviewer.json` → Claude Code default (Codex MCP)
> with `reviewer_route.py` through the canonical helper resolver, preserving this
> slot's tier, fresh contexts, source/image inputs and deterministic gates.
> Codex examples/pins below apply only to `backend=codex`; other routes use their
> own first-call/reply contract. Save the route and actual returned identity;
> unavailable selections are `REVIEW_UNAVAILABLE`. Classify acceptance from actual
> families/completion/scope. Forward invocation reviewer/model/effort overrides
> to reviewer-bearing children. Generation workers are unchanged.

> 🔒 **Do not wrap this skill in `/loop`, `/schedule`, or `CronCreate`.** It is
> verdict-bearing — it judges paper-to-evidence fidelity with a deliberately
> zero-context fresh reviewer. Re-firing that verdict on a wall-clock timer adds
> no new signal (it changes only when the *paper or results* change). Schedule
> the *external wait that precedes it* — paper draft ready → then audit
> **once**. See
> [`shared-references/external-cadence.md`](../shared-references/external-cadence.md).

Verify that every claim in the paper matches raw evidence for: **$ARGUMENTS**

## Why This Exists

The executor writes experiments AND writes the paper. It "knows" what the results should be. This creates confirmation bias:
- Rounding 84.7% up to 85.3%
- Reporting best seed instead of average
- Citing metrics from a different experiment config
