## What it does

The skill takes one specific change in a paid campaign — a budget shift, new creative, a bid edit — and compares its result against a control over a precommitted readback window. You get one of four decisions: Promote, Keep-testing, Rollback or Unproven. The ROAS and CPA math is not done here; it is delegated to `roi-calculator`.

Before reading anything back, the skill checks that the campaign has exited learning phase. If it is still learning, work stops: editing during learning resets it and the numbers are noise. Then the window is set — 7 or 14 days — and a control is picked: an unchanged sibling campaign, a held-out ad set, or a comparable benchmark. Without a control, the result is marked Unproven.

Inputs come from your own exports: a campaign report from the native ad manager, GA4 conversions and traffic-acquisition data, and store orders with revenue. No ad-platform API is required; keyed APIs are an optional convenience. If you have no export, the skill asks for one instead of estimating from the dashboard. Attribution window, currency and timezone are normalized before the comparison, otherwise a cross-platform gap is an illusion.

This skill owns only the readback decision, the window and the control. For RQS scoring and veto adjudication use `ad-account-auditor`; for cross-channel rollups use `performance-analyzer`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill paid-measurement-loop -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/paid-measurement-loop/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/paid-measurement-loop/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill paid-measurement-loop -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/paid-measurement-loop/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill paid-measurement-loop -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/paid-measurement-loop/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills paid-measurement-loop
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/paid-measurement-loop/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill paid-measurement-loop -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path ad/scale/paid-measurement-loop
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/paid-measurement-loop/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill paid-measurement-loop -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills/tree/HEAD/ad/scale/paid-measurement-loop/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- tell whether a budget shift actually worked instead of trusting the dashboard
- compare ROAS before and after a change on one window
- separate a real effect from noise inside the readback window
- normalize ROAS across Meta and Google campaigns
- record the campaign decision and the next readback date

## Example prompts
- Read back the budget increase I made on Campaign X two weeks ago — did ROAS hold vs the control?
- I rotated in new creative on the prospecting set on the 10th — promote, keep testing, or roll back?
- Compare ROAS on my Meta vs Google search campaigns (I have both CSV exports)
